2015-03-06. We stopped in Frederick Maryland to visit Ye Old Spirit Shop where we loaded up on bottles. They had a decent selection but the most interesting stuff was a bit pricey. Good sized store, easy to get to from the highway if you are just passing through.

Ambiance: Fair enough. Strip mall with plenty of parking. Store is decent sized, seemingly split 35% wine, 40% beer, 25% spirits. The beer is organized rather haphazardly. You have sixers and cases in coolers, some single bottles in a few central racks, and then stacks of random cases and sixpacks at the ends of aisles and along side and back walls. Service: Mixed. Had one guy ask me if I needed any help almost within a minute of entering. However, most everyone else was extremely brusque. During checkout, asked my checker to see if an item was in stock. Never said a word, just clicked away on the keyboard and then my answer was a grunt and a frown. Selection: Good to excellent. Most everything you can find everywhere else in Maryland, plus a seemingly good emphasis on hyperlocal offerings such as Brewer’s Alley and Monocacy. Word of warning: a number of the bottles, especially European singles, had clearly been sitting for a long time, with a thick layer of dust telling the tale. Even found a handful of IPAs more than a year old sitting in prominence. Apparently not much care is given to rotation. Food: Minor convenience store snacks; basically N/A. Value: Decent to good, especially for Maryland. Overall: Haven’t been to any other bottle shops in Frederick, so nothing to compare to. However, pros are decent selection including locals. Cons are the need to check BB dates on almost anything you pick up and the possibility of surly service. Glad I stopped, but probably won’t be back.

Stopped in while in town. Nice little shop. Not a massive selection but not bad. Had some Stickee Monkee still on the shelf, relatively fresh Lunch, and O grabbed some Perennial Mint Chocolate Stout. Friendy service and a good liquor selection and decent enough wine. Worth a stop in.

I stopped in on a Sunday afternoon and was only one of two customers at the time. The beer selection is standard for the metro areas with better prices than some. There was nothing out of the ordinary but still a solid selection of beers. The whiskey and bourbon selection seemed solid as well.

Stopped in here for a quick check of Brewer’s Alley brews. Nice selection - prices vary between a little cheaper than VA or a little more expensive. Strictly speaking of beer, selection seems good.

Stopped in on Friday, November 30th before Flying Dog Holiday party. Nice setup of beers, and can take singles out of any four or six packs. If only it was closer to my house I might go more. Between this place, State Line and Perfect Pour, I can only blame Montgomery County for the awfulness of the beer stores and pricing where I live.

Lets you mix and match a six pack. Their inventory online can be out of date.

My go-to local bottle shop. Make your own 6-pack, huge variety of local stuff and beyond. Can’t say enough good stuff, follow them on Facebook for the latest shipments.

Located in a shopping center which at quick glance looks like a medical buildings hitch makes its rustic interior a tad ironic. Most of the beer is on the left side of the store and in the back coolers but the have stuff scattered all over the store. They have a ton of local and regional craft along with some good national bottles as well. They also sell by the singe bottle which is always appreciated. They also get in a lot of the latest and greatest like the new Ommegang Biere de garde. Another solid MD bottle shop.
