Iíd never been here before about a month ago. I think I had walked past it probably 40 or 50 different times. Finally stopped in after my companyís Christmas party. Place is a bit strange inside, very unique, kind of a dive. Perhaps not kind of, definitely a dive. Lots of good beers on tap though, and they usually seem to have some kind of new 3 Stars or DC Brau beer on tap, which is cool. Now that I finally made it in there, Iíll have to just stop on by every once in a while to see if thereís something new and interesting on tap.

The Big Huntís a local institution that was one of the first bars to focus on craft beer. Itís certainly a place with a lot of character. Itís a rough ín ready dive bar that has a pretty large tap list. Half of the taps seemed to be fixed and offer cheap stuff like Bud Lite or craft staples like Two Hearted. The other half of the list featured local micros and specialty items etc. Prices were quite expensive, even for DC. Many beers were priced at over $1 per ounce. None of the beers were so special that they could justify such the price point. Service was pretty chatty, friendly, though it wasnít busy. Overall, a spot to check out if youíre in the neighborhood. Not worthy of a big detour.

A bit frayed around the edges, bordering on being a dive, but in an excellent location. Small but good tap list, noisy, busy, bustling, nearby. Neighborhood bar vibe.

Been a few times, nice dive bar. I enjoy the ambiance even though Iíve never been in while itís busy. Have only sat at the bar on the main floor. Small-ish bar with some TVs and tables around. Jukebox by the bar for music. Pretty nice tap list, mostly local and stuff from around the states. Havenít tried the food other than some Jerkface jerky that the beer director makes, pretty good jerky. Nice spot around Dupont for some craft beer.

Some decent beers on tap but their sample size pours are very expensive. Better to go as a dive bar, for which the atmosphere is appropriate. My style of place and a few good drafts even make it someone decent for craft beer.

Dive bar. Very divey, very bar. Really good beer program though -- I almost always find things here that I didnít know about. The food is terrible. The volume level makes it impossible to have a conversation. But the beer list is good.

Stopped in for a bite to eat and a beer while in the area. 30 or so drafts, mostly craft selections from some of the larger breweries like Allagash, Stone, Schlafly, Oskar Blues. The cask was not working, so no go for any cask ales. Bar food was pretty good. I had a cheeseburger and fries. Dimly lit and a bit of a dive appearance. Staff was friendly and service was fine. A decent bar, but I donít feel compelled to return.

Went here on 9-5-13 to try the new Atlas Brew Works. Really enjoyed the place. Itís a dark hole in the wall. Kind of narrow. I didnít check out the patio or basement. The service was decent. Good selection of beer. Varity of microbrews and local brews. Had a half price burger and fries. Both were tasty. Nice spot.

Stopped in around 4:30 to try some special Allagash beers. Initial impression is a dive but despite the dark atmosphere (light and music), the place grew on me. The waitress was super nice. I counted 34 drafts, only about 5 of which had throw away mass market beers. The rest were an interesting mix of local beers and other US microbrews (with a token so-called Danish beer from Evil Twin. Food menu is your basic bar food. Beers not offered in smaller taster sizes, which sadly limits the amount of beers a normal person can sample.

Didnít try any food. Stopped in for a few pints on a rainy Friday afternoon. Had a cool grungy bar look, but the people were more hipster than dive. A large handful of quality beers on tap. Service was just ok, bit slow. I found the beers a bit pricey, but overall it was a solid spot.
