Stopped in for a bite to eat and a beer while in the area. 30 or so drafts, mostly craft selections from some of the larger breweries like Allagash, Stone, Schlafly, Oskar Blues. The cask was not working, so no go for any cask ales. Bar food was pretty good. I had a cheeseburger and fries. Dimly lit and a bit of a dive appearance. Staff was friendly and service was fine. A decent bar, but I donít feel compelled to return.

Went here on 9-5-13 to try the new Atlas Brew Works. Really enjoyed the place. Itís a dark hole in the wall. Kind of narrow. I didnít check out the patio or basement. The service was decent. Good selection of beer. Varity of microbrews and local brews. Had a half price burger and fries. Both were tasty. Nice spot.

Stopped in around 4:30 to try some special Allagash beers. Initial impression is a dive but despite the dark atmosphere (light and music), the place grew on me. The waitress was super nice. I counted 34 drafts, only about 5 of which had throw away mass market beers. The rest were an interesting mix of local beers and other US microbrews (with a token so-called Danish beer from Evil Twin. Food menu is your basic bar food. Beers not offered in smaller taster sizes, which sadly limits the amount of beers a normal person can sample.

Didnít try any food. Stopped in for a few pints on a rainy Friday afternoon. Had a cool grungy bar look, but the people were more hipster than dive. A large handful of quality beers on tap. Service was just ok, bit slow. I found the beers a bit pricey, but overall it was a solid spot.

Man I hated this place. The staff was quite pushy and the menu pretty thin. Only went here because it was across from my hotel.

Several visits in 2009. This place screams dive bar, but the beer was always cold and they always offered a decent selection for a cheap price, with something for everyone. Keep an eye out for their special events- we went to a "Sausage, Cheese, and Beer" pairing event which was reasonably priced and lots of fun. Tried to go during my last visit in 2011 around mid afternoon, was disappointed that they didnít open until 4.

Classic DC craft beer/dive bar. Located near the South Dupont Circle metro exit on Conn. ave next to Madhatter. Fairily unassuming exterior and interior is pretty divetastic. Nice copper plated bar though. Service is okay - bartenders are attentive and fast, wait staff is likely to forget your order or get it wrong and complain if you sit at a table with a beer already in your hand. Selection is usually good - focus is usually more local stuff but occasionally they get in some real gems (CBS, KBS, local one-offs). Prices are about average for DC. Food is perfectly average for a bar. Jam packed on weekends but a very chill happy hour spot.

Another favorite haunt just on the edge of the old neighborhood. Many fond memories over the years of stopping in for a Tuppers Hop Pocket or Wild Goose, something along those lines. Black paint lining the walls, nice old red leather booths, usually a pretty decent music selection too. Food has always been pretty average, but thereís plenty of places for a nosh around goodness knows. Always been a mix of bike messengers, Dischord folk, 9 to 5ers. And oh yes, aside from the pleasant atmosphere, the beer selection has been consistently solid in all the years Iíve been popping in.

True, it is a dive bar but they have one of best selections in DC and always a chill atmosphere.
