A really good pub, fit for the modern age, welcoming, traditional, elegant, and absent of music, thank God. Craft fast food, several better kegs, a lot of interesting, mainly new Scottish cask ales and a few bottles. Arguably the best of its kind in town.

Nice place off the beaten track. Nice traditional feel to the place and a good range of cask Scottish Micros.
Stopped for lunch and the chips were amazing.
If youíre in Edinburgh pop along to Cloisters. Itís worth the walk

Good selection of beer, often a focus on Scottish cask. Very recently added two more keg lines so expect to see the selection improve. Has had a frequently changing kitchen, donít think Iíve ever eaten here though. Good staff, good prices, nice pub.

Visited on Saturday lunch time so it was very quiet. Kind of traditional pub. Some great local ales on tap one of them was brewed for the pub only. Didnít check the bottle selection and food. Friendly and informative staff. Card paymet charged with +40p extra which is strange. Worth a visit.

Booze hall type layout. Mostly cask ales in terms of interesting beers, always in good condition. Staff are friendly, service is good. Decent pub all round but not exactly a Willy Wonka factory of craft beer, always something worth drinking though

Oh i cant believe ive not rated this. This is now my (work)Local. there a few lunchtimes every week. 9 taps 5 changing and 4 fixed (Stewart Holy grail, Tim Taylor Landlord, Cairngorm Tradewinds, deuchers IPA). Beer always top notch. Very friendly... This is my TOP equal choice of Edinburgh bar (along with the Bow Bar) the 5 Guest Taps Change frequently, through a wide and varied selection
Since my original rate way back in 2008...this place has gone from strength to strength, they have removed Landlord, and Deuchers and put in a permanent highland tap, and Stewarts Pentland, they have replaced Guinness with Black Isle Porter and have an occasional range of interesting Keg beers.
Children over 5 now allowed with food up till 7pm

Visited on Saturday 08/12/12 around 4pm.
Just a 2 or so minutes walk from the Hanging Bat, Cloisters is a trad pub in an old stone building.
Pretty spacious inside, the way the furniture is laid out does not make this place feel cramped.
8 beers on cask during my visit, largely Scottish micros, supplemented with one or two Engels, all in good condition.
Lively and friendly Saturday afternoon crowd all in good spirits, service was fine.
Decent boozer and well worth a visit before or after the Bat.
