After the very high rating here, I have to say, I was a bit underwhelmed by this place. It’s true, they have a huge selection of czech brews, I would say about 20-30 different breweries, but after closer inspection, most of the offerings were very uninspiring. You get your usual pale lager, and a dark one, and maybe another lager or dark brew, and usually thats it. I checked most of the beers they had on the menu afterwards, and for about 80-90% the ratings were not very good (3.2 and below). If you come here, be sure to do some research before. Unfortunatly they dont have WIFI, so you cannot check ratings on site.
The menu is seperated in 3 sections:
1) first taps (6) - we tried 3 on our visit, unfortunatly not one I would recommend
2) list of brews group by czech brewery
3) brews by (speciality) style. this section contains both czech and international brews. they had a section for both ale and porter/stout. there are about 10-15 czech brews that were in those sections. I go as far and say those are probably the beers you want to try at Pivovarsky Klub. I had a couple of those, and they were definitly the best offerings. Some of them were a bit pricey though.
They also have some international beers, mostly german and belgian, but nothing too interesting.
Overall, the place was OK, but again, the rating seems too high for me. The place has two floors, the street level floor is mainly for drinking, and they have a lower floor, which seems to be used for eating mainly. We just wanted a drink, so we just stayed at the upper area which was a bit uninspiring, and not very cosy. Service was pretty underwhelming too, the guy always looked at us as if it was a big bother for him that we wanted to order something. At first I also thought he did not speak any english, because he did not respond at all verbally to our orderings, but later on we found out that his english was actually quite good.
Overall for me this place does not warrant a rating of 80 or higher. But maybe we just had bad luck. They do have a lot of Czech brews, so it could be good if you are after brewery ticks, but overall the brews you get were too boring or uninspiring for me.

Very good place for having Czech brews .. Quite impressive selection of local beers by bottle and 6 taps with a bit more common beers and some regional .. I don’t remember foreign beers but to be honest I wasnt looking for them cause the many unknown ( for me at least ) local beers REVISITED WED 17th Dec 2014 after few years and after I visited almost all the best beer bars ( for selection ) in Prague I can say this is my favourite .. This is a proper pub with a good selection of Czech beers and foreigner as well ..

We took a seat at the bar in the downstairs restaurant. Friendly and lively atmosphere. Selection is quite good, six beers from tap and a huge list of bottled beers, many of them local, which is what we came for. The bartenders were sympathetic and personable, a quality we rarely encountered on our beer trip to Prague. We even got a free last beer as a parting gift. We did not try any food, but what we saw and smelled around us seemed quite fine. Prices ofcourse were great compared to our standard. Yes, a must-visit when you’re in the area.

This was the chosen meeting point by Evan Rail (the author of the ’GBG Prague & The Czech Republic’), so we were expecting it to be good. We were not disappointed, the place just oozed beer.
Myself, a BA from the USA and Evan had arranged to meet while visiting Prague in early 2009.
6 beers on tap, one being a Bamberger Smoked beer, the others all Czech. All 6 were tried and appeared to be in good form.
The bottled selection was huge, both imported and those from the Czech Republic. We stuck with local beers, although we took advice from Evan, because we hadn’t a clue what most were!
We stayed on the ground level surrounded by the rows of bottles racked around two walls of the place. Below is another bar and most of the eating is done down there. Toilets on both levels were clean and tidy, as was the whole bar/bottle shop.
We ate snacks but others had larger meals and they all looked good. A very pleasant early Saturday evening was had by all, beery talk with beery people in such a beery bar, how could it have been any different?
Revisited again in Oct 2014: still a great place to drink in. We ate this time too, very good, as were the beers.

You definitely know you’re in a beer bar as soon as you step foot into Pivovarsky Klub. Tons of bottles and glasses are along all the walls. Very chill atmosphere. 6 beers on tap - all Czech craft. Lots of bottles available most of which are Czech but also a decent number of Belgian, US, and German beers though the prices for imports was really high compared to the Czech beers. I had some beer and sauerkraut soup which was tasty. A worthwhile stop and pretty different from most other venues in Prague.

The selection on tap the day I visited wasn’t really my favourite and I didn’t find anything special amongst the many bottles either. The service was friendly and attentive, food was ok. Would have to try it again to see if it was just an unlucky day.
