Visited mid afternoon on a Thursday. Interesting place, located along Barton Springs road next to ramshackle BBQ places and a trailer park. However, there is a brand new condo development located directly behind the place, giving it a very Austin mid-gentrification feel. The place itself is a cool roadhouse type setup with a big outdoor patio with tables and a stage, and an open air big bar (garage doors were open on a beautiful day). A bunch of tables and a big back room that they appeared to be setting up for a private party. Beer selection is 6 house beers and 8 guest taps. Friendly service and crowd, had a nice conversation and enjoyed my beer. Parking is in the new condoís garage behind building.
70 = ★★Ĺ (Locals should check it out, visitors with extended time)
I only use the total score, not the component parts.
Visited here while in the Austin area for business in early September í15. Sprawling BBQ place that has indoor and outdoor seating in several areas. Has about eight of their own on tap, the two I had were pretty solid. The slab of ribs I had were excellent. Great crowd at the bar, friendly barkeeo. Great, down home comfortable place.
Nice barbecue place that also brews beer. The house beers are good and reasonably priced. Especially with my AHA discount. Service was a bit slow and didnít seem to know anything about beer. Food was pretty good and reasonably priced as well.
Uncle Billyís feels like a restaurant first, despite the brewhouse being in very plain view. The beer selection on my visit was pretty basic, but not overly generic. The bar and dining room are spacious and open. I didnít try the food. I donít think Iíll ever understand "barbecue" that is cow, mesquite, over-seasoned and accompanied with sweet catsup sauce. But for the masses that are into the kind of thing, this is a place to get both local beer and that stuff. Itís a pretty cool place, but wasnít one of my favorite beer destinations in Austin.
Cool vibe and interior. Parking was validated in the apartment parking lot next door. Didnít try the food. Got a taster of all the beers. I have had some previously and really liked them (a few years ago), on this trip several were flawed with some sort of malt based DMS/tannin. Slightly disappointing. Prices were reasonable.
Despite being a brewpub, and the brewery is clearly visible, this doesnít feel like just that. Itís a typical (in the good sense) American restaurant that happens to brew their own beers. Does that make sense? In any way, itís easy too find and the parking system works well. What you get is a place where many smaller batch brews (I think) are offered by can (!) and obviously on tap. 10 were available at the time I visited, plus 3 guest taps which went listed mine brews ate decent but it can differ quite heavily between passable and very tasty. Server was very relaxed and friendly and offered me a chat, even while he was busy cleaning tap lines. The food was okay but very simple. It tries to be everything (brewery, restaurant, bar) and while being good in most, it doesnít excel in any. No problem, itís nice as it is.

Visited October 2011.
Stopped in mostly for some BBQ and house beers but found some cool guest beers as well as a bottle of some Pabst-made garbage that I hadnít tried before. The service was slow and didnít say much at first but after a few stops he was friendly enough. The food was pretty good. Iím finding that TX doesnít offer up as much BBQ as I originally thought, but this is a worthy stop. The house beers are all decent at least. The best were the Axe Handle Pale Ale and the Psycho Keller pils. Worst were the Hill Country Organic Amber and the Haystack Hefe, not that they were bad, just the least good. Siting outside under the big tree was the right choice I think as the weather was nice and it was loud inside. Cool place over all.
Solid beers. Huge, excellent smoked chicken wings. Great brisket and smoked turkey breast. Laid back, relaxing atmosphere outside. Itís like hanging out in someoneís backyard. Fast, friendly, attentive service. The indoor area is very homey as well. Lots of wood. TVs inside. Only one small TV outside at the small bar area.
