This place is hilarious as it somehow tries to combine the old fashioned English pub, including stale-ale-sipping grandfathers, with the hoppy craft beer of today. And it strangely works. Super friendly service I have to say, one of the best Iíve had! Nice, nice beers too. I think most people here still live in the 19th century, but the beer hasnít and that is all this place is about. Down to earth, attractive prices. Excellent if you are an 90 year old hop lover. :)

Lovely boozer that was bustliní with the after work crowd. Thereís front and rear rooms with handpulls on both bars. A pleasant, cheery environment that is a joy to grab a beer in.

With 15 cask ales and the majority of these rotating you are spoiled for choice in this urban pub close to the main city markets. Itís a two sides pub with the bar occupying the middles ground of the two rooms. Itís worth checking both sides for the ales as they are different on each side, but a chalkboard also lets you know what is currently available. As wall as an ale house this is also a music venue pub.

Cracking old ale house with a genuine passion for good ale. Friendly staff, lots of beers to choose from (all well kept) and some great live music Thu, Fri, Sat & Sun. A bit basic, but a ímust visití when in Leeds.

I really quite like this place. A lovely traditional boozer, good music, a great pork pie and a solid selection of local ales. Expect beers from Ossett, Saltaire, Roosters, Revolutions to name a few. A reet good Northern pub.

Going back to the Duck and Drake brought back quite a lot of memories for me. Loz and I used to visit this place frequently back in the very late eighties and early nineties more so in the early nineties when Loz was at Bradford Unií, we used to love it here. I was pleased to see it still going strong, though as Gazza says further down the comments list it could do with a little TLC, a spruce up would really invigorate this pub. However I must say the beer choice was good, mostly local microís the place was really quite busy and the atmosphere friendly. There is no denying that this is a down to earth boozer that is a world away from the likes of the North Bar, Swan etc but it is certainly worth a visit. We (me, dad & Barry) visited here on Sunday 18th march 2012.

Situated near leeds market and the bus station under a railway arch this typical inner city british working class pub can seem a little imtimdating at first, but it well worth having a wonder in. Once inside there is a very laid back atmosphere and no 30yard stare from the locals that i was anticipating. With around 8 or 9 cask on tap there is always a good selection of local ales and ciders to suit any palette. One notable feature is the unusual wall art in the smoking area, it has to be seen to be believed; you have been warned.

Superb classical English pub atmosphere with all kinds of people, young and old, drinking well kept ales on a Sunday afternoon. Two rooms, quite airy and spacious, with a half moon bar covering both rooms. A freehouse with interesting cask ales from Ilkley, Summer Wine, Acorn among others - I counted at least nine operating pumps. Very laidback and cool place that should not be missed on a pub crawl in Leeds (visited 11.07.2010).

On the way to the Palace, lurking under a railway arch in a typically grim Northern way, this pub isnít the place to take your Gran for sunday dinner but itís a good boozer all the same. A good range of real ale is generally on handpump and the sometimes boisterous atmosphere is interesting! Worth a call-in when walking to the Palace although it could do with a bit of TLC.
