Hard to rate this place. Visited at about 1.30 – 2.00 in the morning on a saturday. We didn’t go inside because you had to leave your coats at the cloakroom. At this time of the day it was basically a club & not a bar. Loud music, people dancing, light, beer in plastic cups,… Place was packed. Hard to believe that this is a regular bar during day time let stand alone a restaurant. We sat outside on the patio & drank their house beer from plastic cups, surrounded by teenagers. The house beer was decent / okay. Some teens insisted on sitting on top of my umbrella in order to smoke joints which was weird. They actually moved it so that they could sit on top. I am not going to rate it too harshly here since the whole thing was apparently not very representative of the place during most of its opening hours.

The city centre branch of Rootz is smaller than its counterpart by the harbour in Scheveningen but it has more character. It’s in an attractive old building with brightly painted shutters in the main shopping drag. The bar is dark and atmospheric and there’s a nice leafy pavement patio outside. To the side of the old building is a once open space which has been made into a music venue, also with a small bar. The beer list was OK, with seven or eight taps and maybe twenty bottles. Unfortunately the service was painfully slow and not overly helpful. (Visited 26 September 2015).

Nice old bar with a decent selection of commonish Belgian beers and a smattering of Dutch craft. Service is at the bar or at the table. The only thing I didn’t like about this place was the barstools along the entire length of the bar making it hard to get to but that is offset by the table service. There is a tasting tray available, but be aware it;s for the taps on the wall and not the bar taps. Had some hot cheese and potato snacks here which went down well. Yeah not a bad place at all.

Can’t believe we missed this on all our beer tours to The Hague. Nice selction of beers, Dutch and Belgian. Service is OK, but bit slow. Will try this place out next time when in the Hague again.

Nice looking place with friendly staff. They have some usual stuff on tap and a nice bottle list with quite some Dutch micros. Bottles are very expensive though.

Have been here countless times but seem to have never reviewed it until now. Decent if not exactly exciting beer selection of half Belgian and half Dutch micros. The food is reasonable but overpriced and the venue itself is great for a city center bar. Far more beers than the grote markt bars around the corner, and their 2 or 3 own decent beers make it worth a visit if you’re a ticker at least.

Restaurant with large patio on the street side. Nice interior. Friendly service, great food. They have a lot of average Belgian beers but the Dutch beers are much more interesting: Emelisse, De Molen, De Prael, het Uiltje,... A lot of Dutch microbreweries. A mus visit!

Visited on a Friday afternoon, quiet because they have no TV’s and everyone was watching Italy lose to Costa Rica at The Fiddler (keep that in mind if you want/dont want to watch sports while enjoying your beer). I like the atmosphere, cozy with chill music playing. The selection is ok, but can be easily outdone, they have the classic Belgians and a few Dutch micros. The value is not bad for center city, but it will make a hole in your wallet if you spend the evening here. Didn’t try the food, but they have a full menu (duh it’s a restaurant) Decent place, but not worth a detour.

Good atmosphere. The selection of tap beers and bottled beers is good with a mixture of Dutch and Belgian beers. Wifi is spotty and barely works

Located in the centre of Den Haag, medieval from the outside. Nice atmosphere on the inside: old, dark wood, cosy... Friendly and helpfull staff! Very nice selection of beers from both tap and bottle. Got their beers specially brewed for them on tap. Bottle selection is less exciting for the beer nerd, but still a nice selection with good beers anyways. Worth a visit when in the centre. Didn’t try the food, but I bet it’s nice.
