30 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 1/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 4/10 OVERALL 5/20
Dead last of the 5 beer places I visited in Riga. Cheezy faux-cellar atmosphere near the castle with music that was too loud for lunchtime.
Bad service, very slow despite being one of only two couples there for a late lunch. The server also waited to tell us until after we had ordered and been served beers that the credit card reader was broken, so I had to run out and search for an ATM. Fortunately, because the service was so slow I got back before our lunch was served!
As for beer, they have two house brews which are completely generic, along with some overpriced Latvian beers.

Another typical cellar bar-restaurant in old town. It looks smaller than I expected, but its not a problem, makes it more romantic. About 6 taps of local beers.

Intensely touristy place in a cellar. A couple of locals are chatting with the barman, otherwise empty. Freezing cold. Their two own beers are decent, but one is infected. Service is distant, but friendly enough once connection is made. Having rated their two house beers I am never going to set foot here again.

Nice atmosphere. Wifi was down. Their dark beer was sour. Food was decent and the service was good.. could do with more beer choice

A difficult one to rate because it is in Latvia, so what are you supposed to expect? A cellar bar entered around the back. 6 taps and very few bottles when I visited but this was not summer when most people go.

Good choose of Latvian beers. Quite good service even if not much quick. Great and impressive cellar. Discreet low prices for the Latvian strand.

A nice and atmospheric cellar bar/restuarant. A good range of Latvian beers on draught and in bottle from some of the smaller breweries in the country. I was served a very friendly and talkative and friendly waiter. I may eat here next time and see what the food is like as the cellar seems very cosy.

Fine location, low prices, better service than most places in town. Very quiet on a weekday evening.

Nice cozy cellar place. Not so impressive Latvian beer selection but there are some seldom ones on draught. A few European brews are available on bottle like Franziskaner and then some standard Latvian ones. For a Latvian bar/restaurant the service is quite good. They have their own beer (Alus Arsenāls).

This is walking distance from everything in the old town. Good selection of Latvian brewers represented (about 7 or 8 of them). Many tasty brews. Solid menu - grab the 1m sausage for L8.20, it’ll feed 2 people! Piped music was a bit naff.
