Incredible beer selection with some really interesting choices. A lot more modest on the food front. Real homey Irish pub vibe. Tad bit on the pricy side.

Loved everything about this place, except the staff. Please note this place definitely sets the pace on tap list quality in Melbourne.

Visited once, on July 26, 2013, with a mate of mine.
Took the tram from Federation Square down to Luna Park or so, started walking down Carlisle Street. I had got it in my head that it was located at 185, so we stayed on the right hand side, couldnít find it, realized it was 184, had to cross the road and walk back a few blocks... So, if you also come from the bay and are walking east, it will be on your left hand side. Sign is not that obvious to notice either. Much closer tram stops too, one right on the corner, but didnít note down the name for it.
Looks and feels very much like the Local Taphouse in Sydney, which for me is a very good thing! Offer 5x90ml tasting paddles for $15, their crackers that come with it are not as tasty as the ones in Sydney, still you get it which is rare at other places!
No WiFi, since they had changed password and teh staff didnít know it to give out.
Two floors indoors seating, also a beer garden at the top floor. Two bars, one on each floor, with the same draught selection, but two handpumps (this night at least) downstairs only.
A bit off from the CBD, certainly not walking distance, but well worth the trip down to St. Kilda!
Nice fast service.
Didnít eat, part from a bowl of hot chips that me and my mate shared, will not score the food rating for that though.
Had a tasting paddle and a glass each of the two imperial stouts on hand pumps.
Big bottled selection, though I focused on the taps.

Superb. Lucked out on the tail end of a New Zealand tap takeover. Most of the other 20+ taps were Aussie. Excellent tap selection. Indoor/outdoor seating with good atmosphere and lots of ppl even on Sunday. Didn't eat but food smelled good. A Melbourne must for beer.

This is the superior Local, crushes Sydney. Comfortable setting from the decor to the chairs and service, I felt at home right away. 20 beers on tap, a lot similar to what I had in Sydney a few days prior but a few more Victorias. Loved this place, best place in Australia.

Great bar. But real problems with the nazi style security and the manager when he eventually came out with a real attitude, when we just asking him a simple question.
Totally ruined a great night out where we loved the beers and everything else about the bar.
I would not go back to this bar for that reason which is sad as the beer selection was great.

Like the other one in Sydney, love this place. They have monthly rotating taps of international and local craft beers. Lots of favourites and always something new to try.
The staff are knowledgable and they have cool events if you are into that kind of thing. Food is good but a bit expensive. Nice different indoor/outdoor areas.
Only thing I donít like is it gets really packed. Much better to go during the day or a weekday evening.

this place was pretty awesome! cant fault anything they did where really helpful with the beers they provided. was cool how you got to circle your taster beers on the beer tap last and they would arrange it in the order of how they should be drunk. good food menu as well. lots of international craft from italy, usa, denmark etc and even some local stuff thrown in. overall an awesome craft beer pub

Really enjoy going to the local to see what new beers are on tap. Good service from friendly helpful staff. Plenty of events and the food is not to bad. Cheese platter was awesome and matched with the beer canít get much better.

Made an appearance here after seeing how highly rated this place was prior to my visit. Upon arriving we wree asked for a gold coin donation, for...AMERICA NIGHT, haha, this was going to be funny. It was still a little early but the bar was already decently filled. On tap they had all US beers, mostly from Cali but some from other states. I had hoped when I came that I would get a chance to try some AU craft beers but it wasnít meant to be here. Grabbed an IPA, something from Green Flash. We were hungry but the only thing on the menu was all "American"; bbq wings, hamburger, hot dog, etc. we grabbed wings and a hamburger (no cheese though, donít they know us Americans like cheese?!). The wings were mediocre as was the burger but it filled us up. I grabbed another beer, a stout this time. Overall, the bar was pretty cool and you could tell as the night went on that this was a popular bar that seemed to attract the craft beer fans. Iíd go back again if I was in town but would shoot to go during the day when I can sit back, relax, and enjoy some beers. **** Go, go, GO to the bottleshop too as I saw beers there that I saw no where else in AU, picked up several Cantillons. Prices were high but probably to be expected given the current beer scene there.
