Local beer bar in my own backyard. Frequent LO often during the year for just meeting up with friends for a beer and some pub like cajun food or for all of their special events that have the majority of the tap list wanting any beer nerd to die for. Ambiance isnít for everyone as its layout and location are great but some may not appreciate their taste in blasting Metallica and Slayer during its busiest times, but this the bars character and always will be. The service is always great in light of how busy it gets most weekends. The food has always been good for their po-boys and other cajun dishes. Prices can be a little high at times but hard not to charge them when you put together some of the tap list of beers they over on a regular basis. Bottle list is small but usually carrying some nice lambics or other more limited goodness. Overall a must visit bar if ever in Chicago especially if you can be so lucky to wander in during one of their unbelievable beer events. Highly recommended.

Heavy metal bar completely focused on beer. As I walked in I was greeted by a extremely well curated tap list of local option beers along with guest taps from world class breweries. Enjoyed a pint of zombie dust and central waters BBBW and got some excellent service. Music was loud, the beer was good and this was overall a great dive bar. Glad I didnít bring the girlfriend, wouldnít be her scene.

Dark and trash place, I donít say itís bad !
Great selection at the time we were there, end of November 2013.
The barterder was pretty lazy on service he was dawdling behind his bar, the place was far to be full and we had a hard time having service.
When we were asking for information on beers on the black board he was pretty annoyed.
After two beers we left for the Map Room.

Stopped by for a pre DLD event. Got there at 3:00 for and event that just started and the place was packed. Tap list was nice for the event but they didnít tap what I came for. Huge selection of their own beers and FFF beers. Worth a visit but avoid the big events unless you get there early and get a seat. Oh and I hope you like loud thrasher music.

SO glad I made the trip here. It is a metal bar in a quiet/university part of town. Friendly folk serving and really knowledgeable. It is more of a metal bar which I enjoy but honestly, the beers. Great brews. aggressive brews. loved this spot. not to mention it is near Pequods Pizza.

Great little place tucked away in Lincoln Park, a fabulous leafy retreat from some of the more overrun places in this part of town. Small, dark, a barís bar if that makes sense. Unpretentious and lively. I imagine it can get packed and loud, but my visits were under very different circumstances. Great selection, slightly pricey, but loads of great locals and regionals to try. Food was okay.

Beer selection is excellent, the food is fair, but who ares itís all about the beer. They have over 30 taps of of their own concoctions and local and national micros. If you are in the neighborhood stop by, its a real bar in a fancy neighborhood.

I was expecting a little more from the high ratings here, but I canít really say I was disappointed. The selection of beer was great here (both in size and quality). The food was good (the fries, in particular, were incredible). But of course the real draw here is the beer - American craft brews of incredible quality from all over the country. Worth a visit while in Chicago.

I visited here recently on a business trip to Chicago based on the high rating and generally positive reviews. Although I enjoyed my visit there I came away with a somewhat lower (but not at all bad) rating from my experience. Some of their beers are very good...my favorite was "Blood on the Kings"...and they do have a good selection of bottles and a decent selection of other drafts. Their beers are contract brewed at Dog Brewery in MD. I liked the metal music and the decor (kudos for the switchblade draft handles and I loved the sticker that said "employees must carve Slayer into their forearms before returning to work"!). All in all though...the place for me was above average but not as great an experience as other beer bars I visited on this trip (like Hopleaf, Map Room, Revolution, & Kumas Corner...which although all different all had a better vibe in my opinion). Although I recommend checking this place out on a Chicago visit...I wouldnít call it a must visit if you have limited time.
