Beautiful old looking place on a small square woth loads of restaurants and a 150m. walk from Galgenhuisje. Pretty large, well broad, entrance. Nice atmosphere, less interesting beer card and taps/bottle choice. Better places in Gent though itís fun to have been here.

Ok cafe but with no really interesting beers, Bockerís Vanderghinste Bruin being perhaps the highlite. Ther are much better cafes in Gent.

I woudnít recommend this as a ratebeer worthy place. Itís a pub, with a good atmosphere (thereís a terrace at the back, near the water, just an inside tip! ;-) but the beer menu is highly uninspired. Good think they have trappists, but thatís pretty much all I ever order there.
MESSAGE FOR FOREIGNERS VISITING GENT: if you read this, youíre probably planning a visit to Belgium, and Gent in particular. Iím always interested to get to know other ratebeerians, and if you come from an interesting country, we can maybe to an in person beer trade? Contact me!

Thereís a small square (actually a triangle) where Pensmarkt meets Hooiaard and Ďt Gouden Mandeke is one of several cafťs in this bustling area. Itís a lovely old stone three storey building with a red and gold hexagonal Primus Haacht sign with the name of the place hanging underneath. It can also be accessed through a brick corridor leading from the canal terrace to the beamed bar area inside.
There are five taps (Haacht Primus Pils, Tongerlo Bruin and Blonde and two Charles Quints listed as blond and donker) and 16 bottles, including four from Mystic (kriek, perzik, limoen and white) and 8 trappists. They also serve wine, soft drinks, coffee, spirits and eleven flavoured jenevers but no food as far as I am aware.
