Tap room now serves food some days of the week but the selection is rather limited, no table service, and if you want water you have to buy it bottled--Ripoff City. But the real problem is the beer. I got a sampler of four of their mainline beers and I can honestly say it was the worst sampler I’ve had at any brewpub or tap room, even including Gordon Biersch in Columbus. Ambiance is OK--cool beer can collection in two glass towers, local arts, crafts and nonperishable food items for sale. But to me the main factor is the beer and this place falls far short. Not worth a visit even if you happen to be in the area--go to one of the locations of Whitey’s bottle shop instead.

Another update. PROS: Now serving food Thu-Sat, so beer can be purchased and consumed on premises, even without purchasing food (on those nights). They have actually hired a few folks now, so that’s a plus. Their warehouse space now has a small area for local arts and crafts for sale, and there’s a good amount of GCB merchandise available as well. Food seemed well priced (still have not tried it personally) but have heard that it is solid pub grub. They always seem to have at least four of their beers on tap, and they’ll let you try a small sample if you’re not sure. You can get sample sizes of their beer (my guess is about 4 oz.) as well. CONS: Beer on premises was served in tumblers, and a chilled tumbler is the default serving vessel; wish they would serve food throughout the week. OVERALL: Worth your time if in the area, especially now that they can serve on premises three days of the week. Some good things continuing to happen, and happily some solid growth for them as well. I look forward to drinking GCB for the foreseeable future. Ample street parking in the area, and very close to Third and Main, which has a selection of state and regional beers.

Very friendly service, they will set you up with a tasting of all the fine beers on tap. Although not all at the beer were to my taste, they of the highest quality. Well worth checking out.

I’ve been meaning to make a trip to this place ever since their Coconut Porter was featured in Cincinnati magazine as one of the best beer brewed in the area and decided to make the trip when I saw they are now open on Sunday. I was actually their first Sunday customer and Lani took my picture with Dan! Unfortunately, the place is doing so well they were sold out of many of their beers, so check their website. I did get a couple of samples, a growler of their IPA and Coconut Porter and a very friendly tour from Lani who showed me their plans to build a nice little brewpub. I got to talk to Dan who told me about their mini-kegs -- no special equipment needed and the beer stays fresh in the refirigerator for months due to the collapsing liner that squeezed any oxygen out -- a novel concept yet they were sold out of those as well. Very very friendly and nice folks who I think/hope will make it big. Definitely worth the trip even if they were short on some of their normal selections.

Such a great find! I stopped by this brewery on my way to Cincinnati and was overly impressed. They had just moved from their old location and still have a lot of work to do to get the establishment fully completed. Even though they are not able to sell by the glass until they get everything done, I was able to sample four beers while there. Each of these beers offered were perfect. The owners were very kind and courteous and knowledgeable. I bought a growler and it was a great souvenir of my visit and held up well. I highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area as this place is only going to get better when their expansion is complete.

November 2009 - GCB resides amidst a quaint middle-American main street, with a small counter and free samples of their offered beers, growlers or party-pigs to go. Nice selection of beer -- from a wit, to a cherry ale, to a damn-good coconut porter, and all the beers are quite good, and the owners are friendly beer geeks. Definitely worth a 20 minute detour if you find yourself on the Cincy Tri-State beltway.
