Walked over one night from the Hilton. I like that they have two distinct areas: bar and restaurant. No complaints about the food or the beer. Both were better than average with a surprisingly big menu and nice variety of beer styles. We had the nicest/friendliest waitress ever. I would gladly return.

Decent lineup of Great Dane beers and a few others. Tasty food. Service kinda slow. Noisy.

Whenever I visit Madison this is a must stop. Nice pub atmosphere, nice pool hall, great service, and good food selections. Nice array of beers on tap. Service has always been excellent. The Mad City meatloaf s a favorite. They have killer Wasabi mashed potatoes on occasion.

Cool old building just a couple of blocks off the square with no real street parking close. Huge place inside with a bunch of seating areas and a long 15 seat bar with about 15 taps, including 3 casks. Most interesting taps with gold dog heads. Bartender was only semi-interested although knew beer stuff. Beers were only semi-interesting.

4 or 5 separate bar/seating areas and still always crowded, this is a popular place indeed. Beers are somewhat generic classic styles that all sort of taste the same. Usually only one or two beers worth getting excited about. Food is OK. One fun thing is that they sometimes have the same beer on tap and on cask, so you can A/B them for your edification.

Nothing quite like a big, sprawling brewpub with large food portions and a massive selection of its own beers. Bigness. This is America. I was there after a day at Great Taste and took no notes on the beer. It’s entirely possible that I only drank water. I do remember ordering something absurd like mac-and-cheese-and-bacon pizza, although I don’t see it on the regular menu. Well, it was either that or the brat-and-pretzel burger, wasn’t it?

Stop here every time I’m in town. Solid beers and food. Located right downtown in a cool older building. Place is pretty big including a downstairs patio and pool hall. Prices are very reasonable with friendly service.

Great place with a very friendly service and a great selection of beer and food. Many interesting seasonals.

A classic brewpub with decent beers and an outstanding food menu. This location has a terrific pool hall (five pool tables and a few shuffleboard tables) on the King Street side and a restaurant with a diversified menu on the Doty street side (two levels). In the pool hall, we had an excellent waitress named Luray who was more than happy to help guide us toward beers that matched the tastebuds in our group. Prices very much in line with the area. Just a few blocks due east of the capitol building. Will visit again when in Madtown.

Spent my New Year night at Great Dane. The place is right in the heart of Madison, near the capital. the palce was packed but the service was still pretty good. Selection of about 15-20 house brews, nothing that will wow a beer geek. The prices were cheap, like 4-5 a 20oz. Overall the place is nice and the prices are cheap.
