To say this is one of the best beer stors in the world is not an opinion but merely a statement of fact. Located on what seems like a sleepy side street, but in fact just around the corner from Barleyís, this place is like a temple beer. As others have noted the selection is fantastic full of great brewers from all over the world with plenty of seasonals and a couple of rarities to whet your whistle. The service was very kind and hospitable and they seemed very enthusiasitic when we mentioned weíd heard about their store on rate beer. Theyíre very big fans of the site. Parking one the street is limited but thereís a parking garage a block away and they also gave us a voucher for 30 minutes of parking which was very nice. I canít wait to go back again.
Definitely one of the best beer stores Iíve ever patronized. Itís remarkably similar to the Charleston location but even had a slightly more enticing selection on my visits, namely an impressive selection of smoked beers. The sales clerk was outstandingly knowledgable and helpful. On the rare occasion he hadnít tasted a beer I asked about he straight up told me he hadnít personally tasted it rather than putting up a facade like I often encounter. I canít sing the praises enough of the service. Most every beer I looked at was fresh which is a huge plus. I am eager for a return visit.
I went to Charleston Beer Exchange a couple days ago and I think this one is actually better as far as selection goes. Certainly there are more taps but there is more floor space as well, hence, more beer. And the selection is very much world class. The fill growlers and they do bombers of draft stuff here as well. Excellent customer service, prices are on the high side. I think there is a garage across the street. Itís is RIGHT next to Barleyís Taproom and the Trappe Door for a nice little beer-centric corner.
When we entered the store there was Left Coast tasting event going on so we were introduced to some Left Coast brews. Quite small store but nice selection. All the beers available as singles. Managed to find some nice Westbrook and Prairie beers. Helpful and knowledgeable staff.
Set up as bottle shop with growler station, but didnít allow for selling of points, if they did I wasnít offered. Tons of bottles in the space but older and cramped feel. Service kind of sucked, too busy yaking with a local, didnít even talk to me until I checked out. The growler fills were solid if not spectacular. There were more bottles but less locals than Community Tap, lots of quantity not quality. Nice glass shelf though.
Small, cramped store, but the ambiance is nice and the space is utilized well (ie. They fit a lot of beer into that space) - however, the small space does make one constantly nervous that he is about to knock something over - mostly singles and large format bottles, but some domestic craft six packs as well - impressive import selection - there were some locals, but not a ton - there is a growler filling station with a pretty impressive selection of draft-only regional brews - prices seemed fine, but I have no real context - staff was helpful and seemed to know the product well - quite a nice store, really - I wouldnít call it world class, but for the region it is certainly very good.
Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon. Pretty small store, but they make good use of the space. A very nice selection, and prices seemed pretty good. Growler filling station with 16 taps. Sounds like if you are from out of town, they can ship you any beers that you pick out. Great place to check out and right near other good beer places.
What can I say that hasnít been said...this place rocks. Walked out with 3+ cases of unrated beer (mix of locals on Imports I havenít seen) - for me, thatís huge! Guys are very helpful...if this place was local to me, I would come here every week.
This place can be a pain in the arse to find, but well worth the effort. Parking is best in one of the nearby garages - I lucked out and parked in front, but could stay only 15 minutes. Service is first-rate - the fellow pointed me straight to some excellent South Carolina brews, and managed to get me out in time. He even came after me when I left my oh-so-important beers tried list hardcopy behind - extra point there! Prices appear to be reasonable. I hope that next time I visit Greenville I can spend more time in this great beer boutique.
