This place is HUGE! It’s like five or six rooms into the basement, it’s like it never stops! Even though it’s this big, it has a lot of people without getting crowded, or so it was this Saturday when I visited at least. One or two beers on tap, I had a one liter glass of pilsner and their schweinshaxe, and what a great meal! Very tasty and SO MUCH FOOD! Not suitable for tickers, perfect for German culture lovers.

Visited on a Friday night in July ’08. Long cellar bar, dark and lots of bricks, wooden benches. There were around 8 or 9 of us so we settled down with our own tapped keg of the pils (ave) placed on the table and shared a few large food plates. Good vibes, busy Friday night feel good type of thing. Beer was average, food ok, service fine.

Went there with big group of people after a convention. Nice Cellar atmosphere, but very crowded and noisy. Their beers are ok but nothing spectacular. The food looks impressive 8especially if you order big plates for larger groups) and typical german but I had much better in Hamburg and in Germany in general. But anyway it is not like Hamburg has many beer places to offer ... :D

Low ceilinged cellar that stretches all the way back from Willy-Brandt-Str to Zippelhaus - this seems to have taken over the now-closed Brauhaus Hanseat. Typical uninspired German brewpub with just the Pils on offer, plus a seasonal if you’re lucky. It’s mainly a restaurant and can get crowded and noisy. Service is slow, and the waitress - who wasn’t even the one who’d taken my order - helped herself to a tip without me even offering, which is definitely Not On in German culture.

Cozy but somewhat noisy place located in a cellar with a restaurant in the back, but we were just there for the drinks, so we sat out the front. The service was efficient. The selection of beers is limited to just their Pils and Weizen, which are both decent.

A place to go for food and/or beer and fun. Food is really good ... good german food! Beer is ace! Not a lot of selection but why selection... the places brews itself and that is to be tested, indulged and appreciated. It can be crowded and service at those times a bit slow and picky but with a good sense of german humour a great time!!!

A wonderful cellar with a littly touristy ambiance. The homemade beer is nice. Probably there are better places in town but still this is a nice place.

well - loud, crowded (why???). if you want to party in a way it is a good place. but... beer: you´ll get much better even from hamburg. food: you´ll get much better for same money at dozends of places in hamburg. tourist-napping.

I had opportunity in December 2006 to visit place due to work party. The premises are quite nice in the Keller ie. basement pub restaurant, lots of details. Beer selection was not that special. Pils, Weizen and some dark beer. Food was fantastic, but it was also for free ;)

Visited on a Saturday evening, October 1 2011. The place was huge and noisy but the service was friendly and reasonable fast. They had four different beers, the special was the Gröninger Festbier. The beers were drinkable but nothing to write home about. Food was descent German fare. A glass of Hanseatic Weisse (0,5 liter) cost 3.70 EUR. The location is about 10 minutes walk from the City Hall/Rathaus.
