A crackiní pub, has maintained itís high standards over the years. Can get VERY busy in the evening and especially at weekends. One of the best ranges of beer in the city centre, and they are of top quality. Have never had food here, so canít comment on that, but visit it, you must! Beware of the revolving doors when you leave especially after youíve had a few!

10 cask pumps, 5 of which tend to be staples leaving the selection a bit limited. However, they do have frequent íshowcasesí where 4-5 taps are taken over by one brewery for a mere £2.50 a pint.
Unfortunately tends to be constantly packed, especially during the Edinburgh festival or when any football/rugby is on.
Food is pretty tasty and well priced.

A large, sprawling Victorian pub right in the centre of town. They have a great range of casks and I tried several solid beers on my visit - all in good condition. Average pricing, pretty efficient staff. Certainly not a beer geek place, but youíll definitely find some good beers here. And the location is quite convenient.

Vicorian boozer about a 5 minute walk from Waverly station so ideal if you have a quick change of trains, just take the stair case up onto Princess St and youíll wind your way there.
Large ceiling, big bay window, snug feel to the place, largely local clientele plus a few travellers.
About 10 cask lines, largely Scottish micro fayre with a few Engels thrown in.
Solid trad boozer, ideal for Waverly.

One of the cityís most elaborate and attractive bars, with a solid array of taps. Central location. Always busy any time Iíve been in, no matter the time of day. The beers always seem reasonably well cared for and the line-up changes if you hang around long enough. Iím inordinately fond of the place, despite having been thrown out on at least one occasion that I can recall. Popular hang-out.

Walking through the revolving doors you enter a lovely, lovely room: high ceiling with chandeliers and a wonderful central bar. Upstairs in an eating area, ground level has more seating under the restuarant bit but itís not so plush towards the rear entrance. I love itís Victorian opulence and elegance, just like itís neighbour The Cafe Royal. Beer quality on my two cask ales was fine and the staff were friendly if a little under pressure with the amount of customers they were trying to cope with.

Stopped in day one since it was near dinner reservation. Classy pub with high ceilings. Nice cask selection and prices for half pints were just fine. Seemed like a place to hang have conversations without being to crazed at least my time of day. Enjoyed

Sister pub of the Abbotsford just down the road, and a much grander affair it is, with some stunning decor and a much larger host of patrons. About 10 casks on, with a nice selection of regional Scottish ales.

Definitely in the top 10 places in Edinburgh to get a nice pint of cask. Ambient and beautiful interior. Polite and attentive service. If youíre in the area, at least pop in for a half.

Central location just off Princes Street with Waverley Station nearby, impressive traditional interior and bar, entered via a revolving door. Wide range of handpulls serving real ales and a number of beer taps. A favourite pub to visit when in Edinburgh.
