An absolutely beautiful, rather large and very busy pub that does not lack atmosphere. The 5 waiters behind the small counter were all very busy. Only scottich ales were being served, albeit not the most exciting, on the 10 hand-pumps. Its central location, authentic (if a bit tourist-gatherer) feel and vast selection can only make it a must stop really.

Visited with the RBESG 2007 crowd. Decent and good-looking pub with a fairly nice and frequently changing selection of cask ales.

Funky old pub with cool revolving door. Cask selection was very good and tasty. Bartender had obvious dislike for americans, so we never went back.

Probably on par with the halfway house. 8 hand pumps from what i saw an i searched for more. The manager was quite happy to chat to me about ales an even did something no one else in the entire city would do for me, took the god dam sparker off the beer. Typical selection for edinbrugh usual cali beers and some scottish stuff id had before, got a london pride as i cant get it all the time in glasgow.

Often many drunk stag night filling this place giveing it some sort of atmosphere but not one that i enjoy SCORE 38 ... UPDATE 16.02.10 ... This places i looking up and becoming my Number 4 Choice in Edinburgh... selection has got better ... Service is good ... still best avoided at busy times... but other than that a nice pub... with great decor...

Been twice now. It does get crowded; the atmosphere is great though, and the real ale selection is difficult to beat. Foodís good, but you have seen something like most of it elsewhere. Go for the real ale. You are likely to see something new to you.

A beautiful, formal-looking Victorian pub serving 8 cask ales at all times, with no apparent regulars. Of course, they have plenty of tap macros to fit that bill. I went twice in a 2-week period, and the selection had completely changed. Nice variety too, from bitter to old ales, from brewpubs and micros hidden in the Scottish countryside to ones scattered over the British border. The haggis in whisky sauce I had was excellent as a starter, but the rest of the meals were twice as expensive as the ones you can get at Halfway House (for example), so we passed. If you want selection and a classy pub atmosphere, Guildford Arms cannot disappoint you.

Very good time and very busy. They had quite a few beers to choose from including a wide assortment of cask ales. I was told that the food was good but we had already eaten.

A crackiní pub, has maintained itís high standards over the years. Can get VERY busy in the evening and especially at weekends. One of the best ranges of beer in the city centre, and they are of top quality. Have never had food here, so canít comment on that, but visit it, you must! Beware of the revolving doors when you leave especially after youíve had a few!

Nice interior and beautiful selection of beers. Good service, when i asked if they had a proper dark ale, they let me sample one of the cask ales. Good variety in their selection, about 10 cask ales and 15 taps. Among the cask ales also very good variety, some bitter, some pale ale, some lager, some dark. I did not taste the food, but for the rest this was the best bar in Scotland!
