Always quite crowded. Good central location, but hidden from tourists. Always an impressive list of good quality draft beers on their 10 pumps. Also have interesting bottles from time to time.

Vicorian boozer about a 5 minute walk from Waverly station so ideal if you have a quick change of trains, just take the stair case up onto Princess St and youíll wind your way there.
Large ceiling, big bay window, snug feel to the place, largely local clientele plus a few travellers.
About 10 cask lines, largely Scottish micro fayre with a few Engels thrown in.
Solid trad boozer, ideal for Waverly.

One of the cityís most elaborate and attractive bars, with a solid array of taps. Central location. Always busy any time Iíve been in, no matter the time of day. The beers always seem reasonably well cared for and the line-up changes if you hang around long enough. Iím inordinately fond of the place, despite having been thrown out on at least one occasion that I can recall. Popular hang-out.

Walking through the revolving doors you enter a lovely, lovely room: high ceiling with chandeliers and a wonderful central bar. Upstairs in an eating area, ground level has more seating under the restuarant bit but itís not so plush towards the rear entrance. I love itís Victorian opulence and elegance, just like itís neighbour The Cafe Royal. Beer quality on my two cask ales was fine and the staff were friendly if a little under pressure with the amount of customers they were trying to cope with.

Stopped in day one since it was near dinner reservation. Classy pub with high ceilings. Nice cask selection and prices for half pints were just fine. Seemed like a place to hang have conversations without being to crazed at least my time of day. Enjoyed

Sister pub of the Abbotsford just down the road, and a much grander affair it is, with some stunning decor and a much larger host of patrons. About 10 casks on, with a nice selection of regional Scottish ales.

Definitely in the top 10 places in Edinburgh to get a nice pint of cask. Ambient and beautiful interior. Polite and attentive service. If youíre in the area, at least pop in for a half.

Central location just off Princes Street with Waverley Station nearby, impressive traditional interior and bar, entered via a revolving door. Wide range of handpulls serving real ales and a number of beer taps. A favourite pub to visit when in Edinburgh.

Visited a few times so far, most recently for a quick half between train transfer at Waverley. Guildford Arms is a rather grand pub with a focus on quality cask ale. 10 taps on offer as well as a few bottles. On my last visit they had a mini Oakham fest so the range was half Oakham, half Scottish Micros. Good condition. A pretty great traditional pub in a rather central location. Always worth stopping past.
