Nice little cafe/pub along a canal in the center. Outdoor tables along the canal, and as noted by Plaas - a cozy little bar inside. Food was excellent, set 3-course menu with lots of options for ~€20. Beer list is by no means overwhelming, but solid and beats h*ll out of most of the other local cafes. Great place for a quiet dinner on the canal and some quality beers.

Haagse Bluf is located about 3-4 mins walk from the Rotterdam World Trade Centre on street called Haagseever and backing onto a canal called Delftsevaart. We sat outside on the canalside, however don’t expect the canals of Delft or Amsterdam this is a really grubby affair that is surrounded by equally drab buildings. The bar itself is no looker either being a rather plain brick building with apartments above. Also whilst I seem to be on a negative vibe (sorry Haagse Bluff) nil points for the friendliness of the serving lady, she grunted when we cheerily said hello and asked if we could sit out on the terrace, a further single word grunt of Visa was emitted when we enquired about cards, however she almost broke into a smile when we ordered our food and beers.

Beer choice is pretty good though as others have said maybe not exhaustive, still I easily managed to find a new beer to me, Jopen Oost India Porter and Loz had Duvel Tripel Hop HBC 291 version. It was a Monday at just after 12 ’noon’ when we arrived so understandably quiet’ish’, but there were a few folk here. I have to confess to not really having a good look around inside as we essentially walked in, past the bar which was ahead and on the RH side and then headed out to the outside terrace, however I did see quite a few table’s off to the LH side. It was a little bit dark inside and had that cluttered busy look.

Our food arrived we’d ordered Surf and Turf Burgers and they looked good, the dark bread buns were quite rustic looking and either home made or from a local bakers, the salad and burger looked fine, though not sure how adding just two prawns to the top constitutes Surf. The burger was fine but we’ve had much better at Byron or GBK and we’d have liked to have been asked/warned if it was going to be med/rare as the centre was really pink. Perhaps we never hit this place on a good day, not much seemed to hit the right chord with me today and ordinarily I feel that I am more inclined to be generous so I may have to visit again one day.

Cozy and casual, with a nice view of the canal. The beer selection is far from the widest but still somewhat unusual and interesting. The food is above average for a small pub of this sort.

Cosy beer pub in the centre of Rotterdam. It is more than a pub, it is a restaurant too, quite popular, but I never tried the food. I tried beer instead. Their beer list was quite usual on the first sight, but then I discovered they serve Schlenkerla, and some other Bamberg Beers too. On tap, there is a beer of De Pelgrim very often, which is a good thing. Still, the list could become more Dutch. The staff is friendly and interested. The ambiance is open en pretty local. Nice place.
