Riesiges Brauhaus an der Theresienwiese. Wechselnde Saisonbiere im Angebot, Service ist ok, Preise sind etwas hoch.

The ambiance is pretty typical for a Brauhaus in Munich, as is the food an prices. The waiter was nice, but he couldn’t tell us anything about the seasonal.

Unbelievably huge brewpub right next to the Theresienwiese. Nicely furnished, though a little too spacious to really be cozy. They offer two regular beers and a seasonal, quality can be a bit dodgy (lots of diacetyl in the Weißbier for example). Food is ok and prices are typical for Munich. The service didn’t seem to know much about the beers they serve but was friendly enough. Rather tame atmosphere on normal days, I can imagine things getting quite boisterous here during the Wiesn weeks.

This place is definitely different than the other major breweries in Munich. Much more modern and yuppie and lacking the feel of tradition (forced or not).

A tourist trap. 4 beers available. Tables set for hundreds of guests ready to be bussed in. The beer was OK, but not worth going out of your way for. Why don’t they brew one beer not generally available by the parent company?

Enormous but luckily quite quiet for our visit. I think just the pils on which was ok. We sat near the coppers. Food was ok but nothing special. From the Hbf trams 18 and 19 go fairly near.

Ambiance: not much, it was a summer’s eve, pretty hot outside, yet only a few tables were taken. Some tourists, few locals. Inside the place was empty (despite being pretty huge). Service was ok, our waiter did his best to please us, was polite and had to run off his ass, because it’s a pretty far walk from the terrace to the bar. Selection is mediocre. From a place that has 30 beers in it’s portfolio, I expect to see more than 3 on draft and 2 in bottled version on the menu. Food was decent, though nothing to go out of your way for. It’s a tick, and if you want to have had all the Munich breweries, you won’t be disappointed, but they make much more interesting beers out here.

Hacker’s place on the NW of the Wies’n is ENORMOUS. I’m amazed every time I see one of these, it is HUGE. Sat outside in one of the gardens and only had the Zwickl (so I can’t say much about service), cool day but it was still pretty hammergeil. There is a light feeling of sloppiness about the place, a little damning considering the Oktoberfest crowds are months away and the tentless superstructures are rotting on the Wies’n like dinosaur bones.
