Loved this place. Donít expect to be wowed by selection or ambiance unless you have an appreciation for the "less is more" type place, which I sometimes do have. If you know Hair of the Dog beers, then this place is exactly what you might expect. The only complaint I had was that you couldnít buy bottles to take with you. Itís off the beaten path, but do yourself a favor and find this unique spot in Portland.

The first time I tried to find this place, I blew right past it and went to OMSI. Once I found it, I felt like Iíd found the Holy Grail!!!! The atmosphere is very grungy and real, the appetizer list pairs well with the beer, the service is quick and friendly, and the beer is AMAZING!!! Are you kidding me?! Cherry Adam From The Wood?!? Doggie Claws?!? If you want a world class, Portland craft-brewery experience, come to the HotD. Let them show you how itís done.

Wonderful tap room located in a grungy industrial area. Huge airy space with wonderful service and great beers on tap. Had the "pickle platter" with a sampler of beers and thought it was the bomb. Even the non beer geek in my crowd deemed this the best beer he had in Portland.

An oddly-located pub in the industrial area of SE Portland, Hair of the Dog is well-worth any drive you need to take to get there. Given the range of beers, the consistently great quality is quite an accomplishment. The great staff will be glad to talk with you for as long as you want and the tasters here are generously poured. Blue Dot Double IPA is one of the best beers Iíve ever had. You wonít regret a day spent here.

A super friendly tasting room in an industrial sector of town. Limited but delicious menu, of cheeses, cold cuts, and a daily menu, made by the brewer! 7 taps of exceptional beers, at 2$ per 3 ounces sample or 6 samples for 12$. Another must.

easy access from both west and easy sides. garage door entrance and open/high-ceilinged interior with a half-dozen tables and about 15 bar seats. small kitchen for grub and a few small coolers for bottles (most for on-premises only). taps include fred from the wood, adam, greg, blue dot, doggie claws 07, while bottles include 08 and 09 cherry adam, michael, matt, rose cassis, ruth and a few others. friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere. this area is slowly growing into something substantial, especially with the addition of clark lewis around the corner.

Amazing beer from a great bunch. It is a little pricey but you get what you pay for. If you have a time to hit up a dock sale it is an awesome experience and also the only time you can get things like Fred from the Wood, Cheery Adam and even some older Doggie Claws.

Unadored warehouse, although this is a review prior to their move. Sprints charges an arm and a leg for his beer and coming from San Diego I was hoping itíd be a bit cheaper on site. However, I was happy to have Blue Dot on tap and realize itís a great beer. The bottles we get tend to sit for awhile and lose their hop kick. Which is a shame. Was able to pick up Cherry Adam, Fred from the Wood and a few other nice beers to bring back south. I hope the new place is fully running by my next trip to PDX.

Honestly this was the most awesome brewery tour iíve ever been on. Call before you go in to make sure that Alan is there and head into the industrial part of Portland. Buried between tons of small warehouse spaces in the middle of everything is HOTD. Outside youíll find returned kegs and some ready to go. Alan brings you inside and shows you all of his equipment and will talk with you for as long as you want to stay. I sampled Doggie Claws 09í before it was even sent out for sale, Fred, Fred Flanders, Bourbon Fred, Fred from the Wood, Blue Dot, and Adam. He let me purchase Fred from the Wood and some Doggie Claws to go. Alan is an amazing craft brewer and a truly genuinely kind person. Stop on by to meet a world class brewer, taste some beer, and make sure to get some to go. Next time Iím buying some Dave.
