Great place, amazing beer, great atmosphere, great staff, nothing bad to say...except the shape of the bar. Has an odd groove near the edge which makes it quite likely to spill a drink if you donít place it accurately!

I love this tasting room. All the regulars on tap (Adam, Fred, Blue Dot and Doggie Claws), plus Little Dog (Fred) and Fred Flanders at this particular time. We also split a bottle each of Michael and Cherry Adam from the Wood, the latter being absolutely outstanding. Service was phenomenal - very friendly woman servicing us. Prices are very reasonable and the quality was of course top notch.

Went here on a slow Sunday afternoon in June 2011. The place is clean and tidy. Service was quick and pretty good although our server wasnít completely well versed in the beer. They had some great beers on tap including Adam from the Wood (Amazing beer). They also have a great vintage bottle list for consumption on site and a few current beers to go. Food was good. Overall a must stop if in Portlant, canít wait to go back.

Tap house is located at an industrial area. We walked from downtown here, but there must be easier ways to do it :) Smallish, but airy tap room with good beers, good service and T-shirts to buy. Cheesecake was good too :) Of course, because of HotD-beers visit here is the must in Portland. Vintage HotD only served here.

Beer geek pilgrimage. A nice feeling to come here, check it off the bucket list, taste a few strong ales, and walk away with a T-shirt. The new location had opened just a couple of weeks before we arrived. Giant garage door opens up on nice days, and itís like drinking in someoneís big machine shed, except itís very clean and they moved the tractors to set up a bar and tables. Food looked promising. A casually hip place to drink a few of the worldís more interesting barley wines.

Medium sized place. Freight train comes through every 20 minutes or so. Friendly. Lots of beer tourists. Reasonable choice of beers.

Alan is a god among brewers, one helluva chef, and an eminently gracious host, to boot! The HotD wait staff has always been prompt and courteous! The glasses of beer and ale are reasonably priced (IMHO) and I rather like the 3 oz. taster options, esp. when I just want a bit of the heavy hitters.

Loved this place. Donít expect to be wowed by selection or ambiance unless you have an appreciation for the "less is more" type place, which I sometimes do have. If you know Hair of the Dog beers, then this place is exactly what you might expect. The only complaint I had was that you couldnít buy bottles to take with you. Itís off the beaten path, but do yourself a favor and find this unique spot in Portland.

The first time I tried to find this place, I blew right past it and went to OMSI. Once I found it, I felt like Iíd found the Holy Grail!!!! The atmosphere is very grungy and real, the appetizer list pairs well with the beer, the service is quick and friendly, and the beer is AMAZING!!! Are you kidding me?! Cherry Adam From The Wood?!? Doggie Claws?!? If you want a world class, Portland craft-brewery experience, come to the HotD. Let them show you how itís done.
