Always been a fan of HOD. Best barley wine I have ever tried. They continue to impress me throughout their history in craft beer.

Visited on Tues 6th November around mid day. Large single roomed venue with a bar to the side and lots of wooden bench seating. 7 HOTD taps and a guest, plus various vintage bottles of Adam and friends for drink in only. Service was prompt, friendly and efficient and we had some snacks which were good too. Menu was fairly high end and looked good. Atmosphere was a bit flat but it hadnít long opened. A large organised tour group of 20 or so arrived just before we departed. Plenty of merchandise on sale. Well reccomended - would like to try on an evening next time, although I imagine it will be hard to find the right balance between too quiet and too busy!

Hair of the Dog was our first stop after arriving in Portland. Itís in an industrial area in the SE quadrant near the city center. The atmosphere is open, bright, colorful, friendly. The service was fine. Food looked and smelled great but we didnít eat. The beer, of course, is world-class and a surprisingly good value. Not really any more expensive than any brewpubs back home. Wow. There are 8 taps that featured the four regulars, a couple mild ("Little Dogs") versions, one barrel (Cherry Adam FTW when we came), and one guest. Overall, I donít know what to say except that despite being a really solid place with great beer, it doesnít live up to expectations as one of the premier beer destinations in the country.

At its essence, this brewpub feels like its been set up in a giant garage, but the vibe is cool, the service is efficient, knowledgable, and friendly. The food looked good, buwe didnít have time to indulge. The beers are without exception, outstanding. One of my favourite stops in our little beer odyssey.

Probably the best place in Portland for strong ales and barrel aged brews. The atmosphere is great and the food naturally goes perfect with the beers. If I lived in town, this would be my #1 hangout.

Visited here in August í12 on a busy Wednesday afternoon happy hour. Located in a slightly industrial part of downtown Portland. No air conditioning, which is probably usually not a problem - but Portland was in a record heat wave. Have about 10 of their beers on tap with some vintage bottles for sale as well. Have a menu with a few items on it and just had some bread and butter as an appetizer which was very good. Beers were solid, a tad pricey, but for an out of town tourist, I enjoyed it. Funky clientele, not a yuppie hangout. Service was prompt and knowledgeable. A must visit if in Portland.

Wow... After seeing all the reviews on different site I figured the beer would be great.. But after going here I came to the realization that people in Portland dont have a clue what beer is actually supposed to taste like..... I thought there beer sucked and will never recommended this place to anyone..

Came here for lunch and to sample some brews. The place was located strangely in an industrial area, and the inside of the pub had the same feel. And I liked it. bartender was very friendly, the chili was awesome and I got a flight and a pint. I was looking forward to this visit for a while and it did not dissapoint.

Beer was excellent The food was sub par. Chili needs work. Sandwich was dry. Mac and cheese was disgraceful. Great beer and joint. I will go back and try other menu items. Went back and had the daily sausage. It was amazing. I was in beer and sausage heaven!
