Awesome place with incredible food. Vintage Hair of the Dog beers available for on site consumption including Cherry Adam from the Wood! Service was excellent and the fellow patrons at the bar were a blast to drink with. I would love to make it back here someday.

I really did dig it here. Itís in an industrial area with not much else immediately around, but it has just the vibe that I like. The bar area is well spaced out with a good amount of seats that wrap around. There are also a good amount of tables to sit at and Iíd have a hard time imagining this place getting extremely packed.
Itís a really nice brew list that they have. They have a good amount of their brews on tap along with having aged bottles of theirs as well.
The food was also pretty good as well. I got a grilled cheese sandwich and really enjoyed it. The bartender was nice and it was never a problem getting a beer.
This shot right up onto my revisit list.

Looks like a converted garage, very open and spacious. Can get a little loud. Service was OK and beer selection is primarily theirs which are pretty good. Food is simple but fresh and prices are a tad on the high side. This is a great place if you like their beer, but beyond that no better or worse than any other in the area.

Hair of the Dog is located in what I would call a ďtransitionalĒ neighborhood of Portland. The building was obviously something else before Hair of the Dog took residence as is evident from the garage door on the side. The indoor seating is plentiful and the feel is open. The bar is nice and offers seating for approximately 20 people. The service was outstanding; very knowledgeable and friendly bartender. The selection was limited to Hair of the Dog beers but various vintages that you would not find anywhere else were offered. I heard great things about the food but I did not eat there. Overall, one of the finest taprooms you will find because it is one of the finest breweries.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon - cool open feel with a horseshoe bar. The bartender was friendly and knew a ton about HOD and other local brews. There was 2008 Fred from the Wood on tap and finally got to taste my namesake brew, Matt. The smells from the kitchen were enticing and the brisket quite tasty. A must visit if youíre in Portland and within walking distance of Cascade and Green Dragon.

A large, airy, semi-industrial yet pleasant decor. Swimming pool acoustics (seems as if you can hear every conversation in the place). Brewery visible in the back through a window. Kitchen area along one wall. Very friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere. Seven HOTD brews were on tap. Currently offering a sampler of four (Greg, Blue Dot, Fred, and Adam) for $7. Limited but good menu w/ some tasty snacks (cheese plate, meat plate). Bottle of earlier vintages are available for consumption on premises only (e.g., first vintage of Adam (í94) for $75), but these can also be bought and taken out at the APEX bar not too far away. Although the selection is limited to HOTD, my high score is based on the quality of the beers available. All are good, and most are truly great. This is a must for beer lovers in Portland. Some of the very best beers in town made by one of the finest brewers around.

Minus points for a location out of the way of other beer establishments, but this beer is seriously some of the best in the World. You can find "Mike" and others on tap that you struggle to find bottled in the stores

Didnít have the food here although I wish I had. Their Chuck Norris spicy duck wings were making my mouth water. What I did have were some excellent beers in a really classy tasting room. Got a flight of their standards, Ruth Fred and Adam along with a taster of their Blue Dot DIPA. After thoroughly enjoying those, I treated myself to a bottle of 2009 Michael Flanders red. Well worth the price as Iíd not ever seen that beer out in the wild. I enjoyed it thoroughly. As I was paying my tab and getting ready to leave the server told me sheíd feel awful if she let me get out of there without trying the Fred from Wood. Oh man. I could have kissed her. What an amazing beer. Definitely a must stop if youíre in Portland. Even if youíre not. Go there.
