Mid-sized brewery tasting room in a largely industrial part of town - actually a little hard to get to on foot, as it is surrounded by busy streets and highway overpasses - there is also a railroad track a block away with load freight trains running by constantly - but no worries, you are here for the beer and the food - you might not think you are here for the food, too, but you are - GET SOME! - cozy inside, despite the industrial warehouse exterior - all of the regular HOTD brews, plus a few brewery only taps and bottles of Matt and cherry Adam (for a price) - beers are all (obviously) awesome - friendly and attentive staff - small menu focusing on small plates - tasty food that compliments the beer well - I was expecting a lot and this place did not disappoint.

I walked here on a bridge across the Willamette river on a sunny November day, which added to the experience. Food was unexpectedly spectacular -I had a lamb dish that was - honest to God - the best lamb i ever had in my life - there was an experimental low alcohol (3.5%) beer on tap - I could not believe how incredibly dry and hoppy it was (why cant we get a "light" beer that tastes like that!!). All in all, a wonderful experience and highly recommended.

Sampled everything they had on tap. All were very solid. Ruth was probably the only thing mildly disappointing but it was still interesting. The reserved bottles are really expensive. If you are in Portland you must stop here!

w00t, i made it. returned later in the afternoon after standing in line since 5 am for the adam from the wood release. tap list was solid, with 2006 and 2011 doggie claws on, as well as 2 ílittle dogsí that appeared to be almost the same. greg, adam and fred were also on tap. ordered a round of tasters with the lady, nice industrial feel, plenlty of space, super friendly bartender. the food everyone else was eating looked good, i didnt indulge myself. the real selection is the crazy bottle list, batch 1 adam, micheal, matt batch 1, matt batch 2, all the cherry adams, most of the fred from the woods, adam from the wood, some magnums, sadly none are available for take away. holy crap i could drop a dime here.

Iím NOT into barleywines, especially in very hot summer weather, but this place has the most personable woman server Iíve ever met, and the food is excellent. I wish I could get Uprightís offerings along with the food and service here. The double IPA was very good though. Had it been winter I would have been more pleased with the selection. Update: Returned a year later in cooler weather. This place is tops all right. Some lower alcohol offerings including an English session ale. and the food is always great. Upping my rating now...

Great beers with a very strange combination of food selections. I really enjoy that they use a few solid beers in very different ways, so it is easy to tell what each process is doing to the beer. I found that my gps had a hard time finding the place though...

So glad I finally made it to this beer mecca. Old warehouse turned brewery/tasting room. Quaint northwestern look (high ceilings, exposed pine, rugged benches, tables, and bar, and clever nick-knacks around). I "Walked the Dog" with their four beer sampler, and was impressed at how far back their menu can take you (including a $75 bottle from an early batch of their flagship Adam). Didnít sample any food, but loved the weekend crowd vibe.

Great place, amazing beer, great atmosphere, great staff, nothing bad to say...except the shape of the bar. Has an odd groove near the edge which makes it quite likely to spill a drink if you donít place it accurately!

I love this tasting room. All the regulars on tap (Adam, Fred, Blue Dot and Doggie Claws), plus Little Dog (Fred) and Fred Flanders at this particular time. We also split a bottle each of Michael and Cherry Adam from the Wood, the latter being absolutely outstanding. Service was phenomenal - very friendly woman servicing us. Prices are very reasonable and the quality was of course top notch.
