Any serious beer lover who ventures to Portland needs to visit Hair of the Dog. It's pretty hard to find, make sure you get directions from the brewery not MapQuest. The tour is short but informative. Alan is always willing to share some great beers with guests, often you'll get to taste one of those rare HoTD beers that only have 3 ratings. You can also buy HoTD beers there along with some imports. Exceptional!

Visited right at opening hours, along with about half a dozen others. Beautiful, open-air bar/restaurant right across from a costume shop. Awesome. Even with a small push right on opening, the staff was friendly and ready to talk about the beers. Nothing too special on tap, but itís HOtD; Iím not complaining when I can get flights of Adam, Fred, Lila, and Doggie Claws. Good value, and the food was good; had a plate of simply-prepared potatoes, mushrooms, onions and peppers. Got some bottles to go, also reasonably priced. Must-visit.

Medium-sized classic brewpub with a small, but simply an amazing selection of beers. Vintage bottles available as well. Food was good and the prices are pretty cheap. This place is a must visit while in Portland.

One hell of an ugly building with the brown and yellow on the outside, but grows on you after awhile. Inside isnít anything special, weird painted fish flags everywhere. Really solid beers available with tap list, one special barrel, and an awesome vintage bottle list. This place is dangerous it will get you drunk fast. Nice, super knowledgeable staff. Food was unappealing, boring offerings, didnít look super tastey either. I had planned on eating there but passed. Awesome glassware to take with you and some bottles to go. Thoroughly enjoyable place with couple warts, that you have to go to.

Big sort of warehouse in an industrial part of town. The good looks killer but we are before we came. Great selection if HotD beers on tap and in a bottle. Nice vintage cellar. Proud for HotD to be number 100...

Hair of the Dog is located in an industrial section of town near the water. As we approached my girlfriend was apprehensive ... but it ended up being excellent. The vintage selection of their own beer was amazing. I was able to enjoy a couple high priced but delicious vintage brews that I know probably are not served anywhere else in the world. We had some delicious bread and house made pickles that were fantastic. Overall, a great place to pick up a beer in Portland. I will certainly be back.

Great place with awesome brew. Lots of seating and friendly if not slightly distracted staff. Good food at an OK price. You come here for the beer and you are not disappointed. Enjoyed.
