Any serious beer lover who ventures to Portland needs to visit Hair of the Dog. It's pretty hard to find, make sure you get directions from the brewery not MapQuest. The tour is short but informative. Alan is always willing to share some great beers with guests, often you'll get to taste one of those rare HoTD beers that only have 3 ratings. You can also buy HoTD beers there along with some imports. Exceptional!

A small brewpub with large beers - the history of the brewery and the relaxed ambience make this a favourite spot to bring visiting friends. Their beers are almost all delicious, from the classics such as the heavy Adam and the sweet Fred to their rotating selection of new and unique brews. A small yet tasty menu compliments the drinks as well. I recommend the Chuck Norris Duck Wings.

Stopped here on the way from the Gorge to Lake Tahoe. I had 5 vintages of Doggie Claws side by side dating from 2008-2013 (one was missing) and a glass of Adam. A must stop for sure.

Visited on our trip to Portland. Of course, lived up to the hype. Had a lot of the regulars and some of other barrel aged and seasonal beers on. Great layout, bar was large and spacious. We got tasters of everything in their famous taster glasses. We had the wings which were also spicy but awesome and enjoyed a bowl of chili. The vintage list excellent and enjoyed of Matt 2010 tasting unbelievable and Cherry Adam from the Wood also tasting awesome. Bought some items to go which were also reasonably priced. Definitely a top notch beer destination with great food, great service and obviously great beer.

Hot diggity damn, this place is awesome. The quality of beer you get here is consistently amazing, and (assuming you like the styles) you will not be disappointed. The food is decent, but nothing special. My only complaint is that Iíd like to see more variety in beers and styles, but I understand their business model enough to appreciate it. The vintage bottles they have available, while expensive, are completely worth it, as they are expertly brewed and aged. No complaints, and Iíd happily come back.

This is exactly what youíd hope a taproom would be. Nicely laid out area with ample indoor and outdoor (weather permitting) seating. Friendly, knowledgeable service, and a healthy list of their beers on tap and in bottles - they get a little selection bump simply because, being from the midwest, this was a treat of rare beers. The food was quite tasty too!

Awesome pub with great food, good service and an amazing bottle list. Some of the bottles can be a bit pricey, but for an out-of-towner like me it was nice to get a shot at some things and split with a few buddies. They seem to always have something cool on top, as well. When I was there they had Cherry Adam aged in Brandy barrels and it was incredibly delicious. Highly recommended.

Good ambiance -- nice garage-brewery vibe. The service was pretty quick, a little pretentious, but thatís okay. The selection was good, I think everything was available on tap that I wanted to try. The value was decent. Overall, definitely a portland landmark, I donít know if it lives up to the hype...

Been here many times. Bottle releases, Fred Fest, anniversary party, or just to have a beer or bite. Service is always great and they vibe throughout is really that of Alanís. Great space with nice feel on a warm day with the garage windows up. Always something interesting on tap and plenty of cool/old/rare bottles on the list to drink on site. Food is always fantastic and usually a good value. Even if not eating a meal, consider having some Adam cheesecake to go with that bottle you are enjoying.
