From the outside this bland brick building doesn’t look like much but on the left you have a cool taproom filled with locals, friendly helpful staff(we got a recommendation for one of the best Chicago hot dogs in town Murphy’s from the bartender who even called to check how late they were open - now that is service!), well priced samples and an all-around cool friendly vibe. On the right you have their gift shop+growler station full of cool Half Acre artwork all over the walls, nice looking goods and equally friendly staff. A must visit for anyone doing the round of breweries in Chicago.

Great place with all around solid brews and frequently a spectacular one. Service is top notch though it does get a bit tough when they get busy - which is fairly frequently. The store next door is a great place to sample a few of the brews and grab a growler fill or a to go of either their year rounds or the every rotating bombers of the limited and one off brews.

Very low key taproom in a quiet neighborhood just north of Irving Park Road. Family style setup where you may end up sharing long tables with others. Bar seats like 10, but is quite an impressive piece of stone. Bartenders are quick, knowledgeable, and more than happy to talk beer. Like 10 of their own on tap, and all seem to be solid plus. Tour is supposed to be awesome but I have not made that yet as is 11 AM Saturday only and is usually a line...

A small place... Quite small, & packed, but still able to find a nice spot to stand next to a shelf to hold my beer. Good service for being so busy. Selection is rather small, actually... I think about 6 beers on tap? However, this is a quality over quantity issue, because the beers I had on tap here ended up being the best beers of my entire trip to Chicago. The cellared 2012 Big Hugs was great & the fresh Space IPA was even better. So I have to bump up the selection a point for that. I wanted to buy a tulip but they said they were sold out... It’s the same tulip they serve the in-house beers in, but sadly I could not convince them to sell me one of those :( Very nice prices, all beers available in an array of sizes. No food, but the beer is great. Despite the small size & smaller than average number of taps, this ended up being one of my favorite places to stop in Chicago. Check it out!

Definitely a chill little drinking haven. Unfortunately, they’re starting to grow outta of this location - it got to standing room only fairly early on a Sunday fairly quickly (rumor has it they’re expanding). Kinda a lodge-like feeling with lots of wood panel, quirky decor (to match their label art), and picnic bench seating. The staff is fairly knowledgeable regarding their beer, and beer in general, and friendly - even when they’re packed. Of course the selection loses a few points because they only have ten beers on tap; but they are, of course, all Half Acre - they do also have a special Firkin tap of, typically, some crazy experimental brew (like their gin-barrel aged pilsner). They don’t serve food here, but they invite people to bring in whatever food they like (Bad Apple is right across the street and they do take out!). 5oz samplers are $2-$3 dollars (at least what I’ve seen) which is good for Chicago. All in all, these guys set the bar for me as far as what a tap room should be.

A great brewery for sure. The brewery has on one side the store where growlers are filled, and they have shirts and other tchotckas. The tasting room is really cool with 2$ samples, 10 taps of goodness, and good service. The seating is communal and the wall is recycled wood with interesting patterns. A must go place.

The tap room is clean and modern and has a really great neighborhood feel to it. The bartenders were very friendly and chatting about beer with us for nearly the entire time we spent at the bar. About seven wooden tables scattered around with one real long community table running along the brick wall. To borrow a tried old New England Saying, this bar feels like after a few visits… “Everybody will know your name.” And that’s what I really dig about it!
Everything offered on draft was available in a 4 oz. taster for a real reasonable price. If I’m ever back in Chicago I will make it a point to revisit and stay longer. Cool place for sure.

Stopped in briefly to sample some beers and get some beer to go. I love the design of this place. so cool and hip looking, beers on tap were all good and the staff really took their time to chat with us. Prices were very fair. they gave me a sticker which was listed as a 50 cent cost.

We attended the tour at half acre and really enjoyed it. Much different than other tours in that you don't do much walking around, but rather it's focused on learning about the brewery, etc and sampling the beers. The guide was excellent and very entertaining... Made it worthwhile. Beer was very good and for 10$ you get three pints and a glass. Well done half acre ... Keep it up

Low key tap room wooden tables and a decent selection on tap. Bartender was great and the beer was pretty good too. Spun some great tunes while I enjoyed my sampler.
