One of the best selections I’ve seen: Southampton, Heavyweight, Stone, DFH, HOTD, Rogue, Avery, Weyerbacher; tons of Belgian, German, Polish, English and Scottish brews. Friendly staff... gave me a tap on the house when I told them I drove forty miles to see them. RERATE: met the owner today, Alan Daniels. Incredibly nice guy. We talked for quite a while. They’re doing a great job and I hope they keep it up!
Huge selection. They claim to have 1400 bottles now. Very friendly service. I was offered a free glass and I only bought worth 36$. Huge alleys, well ordered by country, but you’re still gonna miss a few beers you are looking for even if they are there, so you’d better bring some friends. Lots of room to move. Prices are steeper than average. Probably more bottles than any other store I’ve been to, but not necessarily the deepest and most interesting selection of rare beers. First vintage selection is almost unexistant. I’m not sure exactly how knowledgeable the staff is, but I have the feeling that there’s always one person on the floor who knows his/her stuff.Peaceful shopping experience, great lighting, very clean. Examples: 3f gueuze: 19.49, hitachino eisbock: 4.99, hanssens gueuze: 9.99, cuvée des fleurs: 11.99. They had the 2 SH saison and alt only btw. ///// They had 6 southamptons on the last visit and the prices seemed fairly cheaper than I remembered. I must say I can’t think of any equal anymore..perfect service, perfect selection, those taps offerings seem to have SH everytime I look.. The restaurant in the same building also offers around 30 local beers and excellent food if you’re hungry.
Phenomenal selection, coming from Ann Arbor out to school in Poughkeepsie, there simply was no place to with even a decent range of beers. I've been in heaven since Half Time opened. It has one of the widest arrays of beer I've come across and the staff, particularly the owner, are some of the most well-informed I've ever known.
This place has improved MASSIVELY in the 9 months since I first visited. Then, it was merely "among the best" in New England; now, I echo Martin and proclaim it the tops. The owner & managers are as much beer geeks as you and I (we had a nice 3 way conversation about the merits of DFH120), the selection growing & growing, and if you buy a lot and show your enthusiasm (or the distance you travelled) they’ll throw in a bunch of glasses -- cheap maybe but a nice gesture -- and this time, I got my growler of Snowblower on the house as well. 11 different Cantillons in stock last week, including all 3 Lou Pepes and St. Lamvinus. Need I say more? *** adding a food rating for "Brew" a restaurant next door with nice cheap but reasonably classy eats and 60+ bottles and taps from the Half Time selection. ** oh, and Half Time just had Southampton stuff, too!
took a drive up after hearing so much about the place. walked in and wow there is quite a bit of beer. got a cart and started browsing. loved the singles of anything in the store and quickly had a loaded cart. found a couple of sweet clearance beers and they comped me two glasses with the purchase. the store is certainly well organized and i thought the selection was great. as someone else noted all the blinds were open and the sunlight was streaming in which i thought strange as well.
I drive 50 miles from Westchester County to shop here several times a year. Their bottle selection is outstanding (sure, there are a few important breweries missing but why quibble) and their keg selection is not to be believed. I recently wanted a keg and asked if they had any Avery and they said, "which one, we have them all, in multiple sizes". Very friendly owner and knowledgeable staff. Well worth the trip from, well, anywhere!
It’s rare that I walk into Half-Time and leave with anything less than a full cart. And yes, that’s even when I stop in just to pick up a 6 pack. There are typically about 12 beers on tap, some of which are quite rare, and never make a showing in a bottle.
Selection of micros is the best I’ve ever come across, though being rather greedy, there are always a few more that I would like to see.
Staff is knowledgeable and helpful, but unobtrusive and laid back enough that they pretty much leave you alone unless you look lost, or go ask them about things.
This place lived up to all the hype. Had a great selection and the prices were very fair as well. I personally believe this place is better than Premier Gourmet in Buffalo. Beers of the World in Rochester, probably has a better selection of European stuff. Beers of the world doesnt have the knowledgeable or friendly staff, though. The Owner was awesome.
Huge selection here. Can’t get uber US micro brews and stuff like Westy, but otherwise they probably have it. Everyone here knows a lot and are all helpful. Worth the 2 hour drive. Since I got quite a bit I got 2 free glasses: Westmalle and Duchesse, and 2 samples from their taps: Southhampton Porter and Samiclaus.
Stuff I can get here that I can’t get at home... or rarely at home...
HOTD, Avery, Southhampton and lotsa rare ones from places like Rogue, DFH, Belgium, Germany, etc...
