This is a nice little place nestled away in the South Park area of San Diego. Went there with Katie to get Pliny the Younger after OBriens had tapped out. Ambiance inside is quite a dive, with a little ghetto cafe next door that serves up pretty damn good burgers and grilled cheese sandwiches through a window linked to the bar room. Pretty small inside, with a good sized bar and just a few tables. The entire back area is taken up by pool tables and shuffleboard. Awesome bottle selection with plenty of Belgians and hard-to-find American brews too. We had some vintage Old Stock. Also available was RR Temptation, Beatification and others. Gets quite crowded during later hours, so reserve your seat at the bar early!
Visited on 12th November 2014. Got a cab from Toronado to here. Itís a large bar with lots of tables. It was very busy and we managed to squeeze into a table in the corner. A good range of beers on tap with a lot from Green Flash. Only available in pints which slows rating down a bit unless in group. Prices were decent and service good. Liked this place.
Cozy pub in nice neighbourhood. 28 taps serving fine craft beers. Good prices like pliny the elder for 6.5$. But big disappointment is that they are not serving half pints, only pints. They do have selected beer flight but you canít make your own flight. I donít get it. This same thing brings disappointment almost every time when going to good beer bar. Only russian river in santa rosa knows how to do this thing.
A little let down on my visit. Very divey, overcrowded, smelly. I was passed over by the bartender a few times before getting my first beer. And though they have about 30 taps, they had a Green flash tap takeover and nearly every tap was beer that I get back on the east coast. I might try it again but not this trip.
Dark and grungy pub with tons of taps and very friendly service. Two pool tables and a shuffleboard table. Great selection. Inside was very divey and "metal" feeling. Packed on a Thursday night but it was easy to get some beer and space to hang out. Well curated tap list.

A very dark pub, but nice interieur because they have all their old tap handles hung up on the ceiling. The bottle list is crazy. 3 Fonteinen Intense Red, Golden Blend and stuff like that. Service is meh-I-donít-care-like, but fast enough. Food is okay, right what you need when youíre hungry. Taps are quite cheaply priced sometimes. Dive bar yes, but a fun place.
Iíll preface this by saying I am not trying to be a hater but damn, this place was not worth my adventure to get there. Very dark (to save money on energy?), definitely a dive bar (I love dive bars, btw) but had that annoying "we are also so fucking high end you should feel honored to be here" attitude. Ugh. The bartender couldnít have cared less about my presence- barely listening to my order. My pint of beer was promptly delivered, though. But, what? Ice cubes? The fuck? I get you are trying to cool the glass- but with your shitty beer bro attitude, get the ice outta the glass, dip wad. I originally gave them a pass because the place was packed but the bartender was more than enough after being there a while. I was going to try a burger but I didnít feel like supporting that dude any more.
After a deep breath I decided to give them a second chance next time I am in town. RB is usually pretty good when recommending a place this highly so it must have been a one off occurrence. It does have a lot of potential; I just didnít get to see it on my visit. Will re-rate.
We visited Hamiltonís on a recent beer-focused visit to San Diego. We had been to about 12 different breweries and several different bars, and everywhere we went people told us to make sure we visited Hamiltonís. We were extremely happy we ended our last night in town here.
There are hundreds if not a couple thousand tap handles adorning the ceiling. They have a perfectly curated beer list that is 95% comprised of beer from San Diego, the Bay area, and Oregon. Itís a bit dive-y with pool tables, and they were literally playing Sharknado 2 on the televisions. We ordered a couple of local rarities to start, but after getting completely sucked into Sharknado 2, me and my SO split a 750 of Cascade. Besides the great atmosphere and beer, the staff was spot on. They were laid back, not pretentious, and very knowledgable about the beer.
