Hamiltonís is already a beer bar worthy of several long visits despite not being open all that long. The bar is pretty damn big, and has a shuffleboard table and two pool tables without being overcrowded. The prices are very solid, usually 4-6 bucks a pint for some world class SD beers, and the selection is awesome. On an average day, locals ranging from Alesmith and Stone to Lightning and Karl Strauss. Fair amount of imports. Always at least a few badass IPAs. When they do a special event, look out. I just pulled up the web page and they have Nelson, Expo, and Bad Boy coming up. Hohohoho. Bottle list is good but not the best Iíve ever seen.

Fun place...great character...must stop when in SD. They obviously have a great beer selection...but youíre here as much for the selection as the atmosphere and the vibe...which seems to change by the minute as it gets more crowded. If you just want to enjoy the beer...come early. Later it becomes a really loud, crowded, and fun beer bar. Not everyoneís place...but obviously a lot of people love it. If youíre alone...come early...with 4 or more...perfect when itís crowded. Love the tap handles on the ceiling with the small white lights like stars! A must visit in SD!

Rowdy, loud bar with mix of students/hipsters beer geeks. Real dive bar atmosphere which seems intimidating at first but then you realise how friendly everyone is. We visited on an extremely busy saturday so I can understand the bar tenders didnít have time to recommend and suggest, but the service was friendly and swift. Selection is amazing withs loads of interesting on draft and a whole bunch of bottles and very good prices. I really enjoyed this place and if you are interested in visiting great bars this is a must visit. It is what it is. no flashy modern design and etc. But this seems like a real hardened bar with character and amazing beer. Must visit if you are doing san diego beer circuit!

You donít expect much when walking in, it looks old and beat up with cracked vinyl stools. After a couple minutes you feel right at home and glad you stayed. A chalk board with about 20 taps of mostly locals with a couple Beligumís adds to the charm. The focus is on local beers, but more renowned beers. There was roughly 4 beers that I would consider new, from a small brewery or not known. Iíd like to see a few more about 25% but I canít complain too much. They offer cheap full pours but will give you a couple tastes to find what you like. The bottle list is quite impressive with not only rarer beers like plenty of Cantillon, but vintage American beers like 2012 Parabola and Framboise de Amarosa among plenty others. They offer food, ignore the sticky gross menus and try some hush puppies. The service was top notch. Usually bartenders are a bit stand offish, but our server was not only nice but knew a ton about beer. This is a place Iíd frequent and call home. A must visit.

Went here to get Pliny the Elder, got PtE. Lots of other great beers on tap, food is served but I did not eat. About $6/pint if I remember correctly. Interesting place, very dark and dungeon like. Probably wouldnít go back but it was worth the stop.

One of, if not the best beer bar Iíve been to. San Diego to itís core, its a hipster dive with punk and craft beer paraphernalia on the walls and ceiling. Bar to the left as you walk in, and if you do during the day, its going to take a minute for your eyes to adjust to the lack of light. I get the feeling that this is a place I could sit and drink all day, comfy "come-as-you-are" attitude. Amazing draft list although today is Coronado tap take-over, which no one wants to say but is middle of the road at best. Pliny on tap thank God. Superb place, makes me wish I still lived in SD!

Decent enough bar, with some good local taps. Not superior to the many other places, but a decent place to stop in and get a pint of several styles.

Decent little dive bar. I loved all the hundreds of tap handles suspended from the ceiling. Good selection of local brews. My one complaint was the music was to fucken loud. I had a very hard time hearing and conversing. I found ample nearby street parking, making this a good choice over Toronado where you are lucky to park within a half mile.

Excellent bar. The tap list is long and loaded with rarities. The bottle list, too, is extensive. Prices arenít bad. Itís pretty dark inside. The barmen all seem to be cultivating the rugged biker aesthetic, what with all the facial hair and tattoos; also, I didnít find the staff to be particularly attentive or friendly. For the beer, though, this place is a must-visit on the San Diego bar circuit.

Probably the definition of the craft beer dive bar, Hamiltonís has neighborhood bar written all over it. Itís located in a mostly residential area which means street parking. The interior is well worn and unglamorous with hundreds of tap handles suspended from the ceiling like tombstones. The taps were nearly all locals as weíre the clientele. It seemed fairly busy for a Tuesday night though I overheard several people comment that this was the least busy theyíd ever seen the place. The service was prompt and the people were incredibly friendly. I didnít want to leave. If we had places like this when I was in college I would have never graduated.
