Good addition to the Huddersfield beer scene. HDM beer shop is nice, compact beer shop-cum-bar. Actually has a cafe feel to it. They have 2 cask & 3 keg beers on offer, which include HDM and others like Summer Wine, XT & Arbor. The bottle selection is actually quite small for a "bottle shop" <100 for sure. Nothing particularly standout, but a few goodies such as SW BA KopiKats etc. Prices seem reasonable. I hear they have just bought the property next door and plan to expand which is great news. Definitely worth stopping past if youíre in Hudds.

We (me and Loz) visited here Friday 14th February 2014. It is fairly centrally located in Huddersfield a few minutes from the station and just a few minutes walk from the Sportsman. As you enter you go up some steps and the bar is straight in front of you, its really funny it must be the tallest bar Iíve ever stood at as I was at neck height admittedly Iím not tall but I am 5ft 8 so it gives you an idea of just how high the bar is, you can move further along towards the back of the bar and toilet where there are a couple more steps and you are a little higher there in relation to the bar and being served. I didnít see a bottled list but there was a large range of bottled beers on display behind the bar and in the fridges. I saw three keg choices (there may have been more) the three choices were all Hand Drawn Monkey collabs with the likes of Brew Dog, Rat brewery and Cat brewery so all animal related collabsí. I had a very good Sumatran Rat, intense coffee and hazelnuts, smooth rich beer, Loz had the Brewdog red Saison. The main bar/shop area had seating around the edge and near the front window; however there was a seperate seating area/room off to the side. The seating and decor in here was interesting and much of it looked reclaimed, we really liked it here other than there was a strange odour throughout a bit like wet dog combined with musty furniture. One last thing I thought it a tad pricey, Loz had 2/3 of the Brewdog collab on keg I had a half of the coffee stout collabí on Cask and it was £6.05 maybe not pricey by London standards but when compared to places like the Grove its expensive I think.

A bottle shop or a bar, itís whatever you want it to be, but of course itís the prime place to sample Hand Drawn Monkey beers - there should be a choice of at least four over the two bar areas either side of the central wall partition. I struggle to call the place Bohemian in style as its shabby (but clean) appearance is down to the fact that they look like theyíve filled the place with whatever furniture they could get their hands on rather than a defined look, although this may be the beauty of the place.

Great little place. One think that hit me straight away was how knowledgeable the staff are. This is also clear when you consider the modest but well selected range of taps and bottles. the only downside really is the size of the place but that will soon be remedied. Well worth a visit.

Wasnít impressed with the place to be honest. Ordered a half, was advised that they did CAMRA discounts so produced CAMRA card, only to be charged more!

Great little bottle shop/bar, A few casks brewed by HDM and kegs from summer wine. Plenty of bottles available, a solid craft beer range. Knowledgable and helpful staff and deli food available over the bar. Small nice shop. Would highly recommend.

Nice little store on a quiet back street in the center of Huddersfield. They seem to do everything here. Itís basically feels like the bastard child of a deli and a pub that happens to have a load of bottles for sale. Thatís not a bad thing. The ambiance is cheery, but there isnít anywhere to hang out and have a few beers. Thereís a few stools along a high counter, thatís it. The service was nice, very friendly. The tap options are limited, but of good quality. Thereís 2 cask options plus another 3 (or so) on keg. A few HDM beers featured alongside stuff from Mikkeller. The bottle selection is solid, but not mind-blowing. Thereís a few of the basic Cantillons, some local stuff, a random selection of German bottles. The food looked quite reasonable and well-priced. Mostly sandwiches and charcuterie. The value was solid. Overall, a nice place to try a few HDM beers.
