64 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 14/20 JoeMcPhee (465) Toronto, ON, Ontario | September 24, 2012 A cavernous operation done up like a large mountain ski lodge. They’ve done a pretty good job of recreating that sort of feelng in here although since we aren’t near a ski hill, I don’t really get it. Only five regular taps, but I saw a few on my way out that I wish I’d seen earlier (or alternately, that I’d actually read some reviews). It did the job and for that I’m grateful. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 16/20 mcberko (134) Vancouver, British Columbia | August 15, 2011 (Old-rate, from Sept. 2010) Top-notch brewpub, with all of the regular lineup available, as well as an additional 4 seasonals, at bargain prices ($6 for 4 oz. samplers of 5 beers). The food is very well-done too, offering standard American pub grub. Would definitely return if in the area. | 58 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 5/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 14/20 gsmitty80 (168) Washington DC | June 9, 2011 Eh, the place was big but a little dirty feeling. The beers were nothing special and they only have about 5 flavors. I don’t understand why this has all the high ratings although we didn’t have any food. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 mrhoppy (115) Santa Clara, California | April 18, 2010 Cool place. Great beer. Good food. loved it. | 64 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 5/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 14/20 wineandbrew (12) Steilacoom, Washington | November 22, 2009 Harmon is a cool brewpub in an old building and has that type of charm, the beer is good and consistant although some of the specialty beers come out a bit funky (they’re not supposed to be funky). Eaten here a few times, below par greasy pub food and the service was your typical young nonchalant 20 somethings that don’t care about your experience... overall, enjoy a beer with good company here. | 82 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 leems (27) Portland, Oregon | June 23, 2009 The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable about the beers. Place is a nicely remodeled historical building with tons of TVs. Beer was good, my steak salad was amazing. I will be back if I find myself in Tacoma again. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 14/20 tturner (5) , Washington | October 25, 2008 the staff was really friendly, in a genuine i’m glad you’re here way.
Food was good. Prices were good. Beer was good. I think I’d go to The Rock next time, which is just a few blocks away.
| 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 ElGaucho (207) Minnetonka, Minnesota | June 28, 2008 A pleasant surprise that popped up on my GPS as my wife and I were looking for a lunch spot before going to the Glass Museum. Got there right at the right time as it was just opening for lunch at 11am on a Tuesday. As such, place was pretty empty but the bar tender was very attentive and helped us with what their specialties were. Has the Halibut fish and chips. Very tasty, but I wouldn’t pay the extra $3 for Halibut as the deep frying masks any superior taste of the halibut over the cod. Ordered the beer sampler. You don’t get the seasonals or special releases with the sampler, but the bar tender was good enough to add a sample of the new IIPA upon request. Spoke with brewmaster, Mike, who gave us a tour of the brewery. I was very impressed with their beers. Quite frankly had never heard of Harmon, and it appears they don’t pay much heed to entering many of the myriad fests and beer competitions in the area. In fact, they pulled their brews from Seattle distribution so visitors there who don’t venture down to Tacoma or otherwise hear of them may not be aware of some pretty good brews being made at Harmon. There are some distinctive flavors in their beers while maintaining trueness to style. If in Tacoma, definitely worth a visit. | 80 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 Feinschmecker (53) Seattle, Washington | September 5, 2007 Direct in Downtown Tacoma. They have some interesting seasonal beers - Cherry stout. They even have reserved places for their loyal customers (Stammtisch), which I believe every proper establishment should have. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 BrewDad (408) Olympia, | March 11, 2007| Updated September 5, 2008 A tad off the freeway in Tacoma, but was not too hard to find. A huge open space and this was a typical bricked brew pub with pub food. Great place I liked it and the skiing flair was awesome. The food was good pub food and the fries are to go back for. The service was not too bad and the beers where flowing. Parking is tight so that can be hard to find during busy times. Back to the beers they had 12 taps flowing and I had the sampler it was the same mix as most places with a few others added. The Barley wine late in the year was odd but sure was good. If you have someone that is into cocktails they have a full bar loaded with all flavors. I will be back. |
