66 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20
Visited on Friday 7th November at 10.15pm.
We walked up a steepish hill from Pacific Brewing & Malting - approx 10 minutes.
The front room was full but we headed right and around to the back room by the open kitchen which only had 3 other customers in it.
Pretty sparce and basic decor large screen showing sports channels, the front room had more character.
8 beers on tap, 5 regular, 3 seasonal - all own beers. Tasters are for 6 beers you choose.
Beer quality was fine, averageing 3.3 on my rates here, Defiance IPA probably the pick of the bunch.
Service was prompt and efficient. We eat here as we had been on the go for some 24 hours at this point (having flown in from the UK that afternoon).
Wasn’t overly impressed with the food, Pizza and fries OK, Tacos pretty poor - microwave fodder.
Decent enough venue, probably the best we came across in Tacoma.

74 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20
Up on the hill this place is decent sized with a big back room for more comfortable seating and a huge screen for sports. Service was pretty good and well versed in beer. Selection was their own and ranges from passable to pretty decent. Imaginative, but not necessarily good. Food was good and prices were great. Overall there is nothing really great about anything here but it is good all around.

Great new Tap room right next to the new brewery. Food is a great selection and it is right below the Hub a great place. Love the beer, food and atmosphere.

The front half of the Harmon is big and open and lacking in atmosphere. As you walk into the back you pass the kitchen on the right (dunno how a lot of foot traffic affects kitchen sanitation?) and the brewing area on the left. The back is much better, with tables, couches, pool tables, pinball and several TVs. The selection consists of Harmon beers only, usually 7-8 regulars and 1-2 seasonals. The seasonals have impressed me but the regulars are fairly run of the mill. There are often specials on food and drink, including 50% off your tab on Sundays, making the Harmon Tap Room one of the best values in Tacoma. Food is a cut above the usual pub grub, some of the pizzas being the standouts. Service is unbelievably good and consistent, again one of the best in Tacoma, even as a non-regular.
