We went on a Thursday afternoon. First floor looked small because a lot of people were up in the entrance, but there’s also some room upstairs. A bit loud on first floor, but not problematic. Second floor is very calm. Decoration is “typical”. Front entrance is beautiful. Selection is good, but certainly not as extensive as in the Craft Beer Co. pubs. Price were very good… 1,75 GDP for a half glass of Dark Star Hophead. A nice pub to visit. I wouldn’t be a regular because of the “limited” selection the ambiance, but it’s worth a visit.

I visited this pub early in the morning, but i was not alone. Good selection of cask ales, laid back ambience, the service was top notch, will definately visit this place again.

We have been to this cracking pub on many occasions, not sure why it has taken so long to rate it. There is a long, narrow bar downstairs with more seating upstairs, past the Gents. We love getting installed by the large opening windows at the front, but sometimes it is so packed the only place to drink is the passageway at the back. There are drawings and paintings of ex customers and visitors. It has a great feel to it, friendly and welcoming despite it’s popularity. The beer range is changing and excellent. Top notch.

Fantastic long standing good beer pub. Mostly quality British stuff from cask, old school. Large and well chosen selection. Sadly given rather convenient location gets stupidly busy, especially after work.

Crowded from when it opens until it closes! Unbearably so in the evening rush. But an excellent selection of ales (and ciders), from old favourites like Harveys and Dark Star (always on) to new London micro breweries such as Portobello, Windsor&Eton, etc. A must visit if in the area.

One of my favourite London pubs. Very busy, but good atmosphere. Knowledgeable staff, superb, ever changing beer selection.

Here on a Friday. Bloody busy! Grabbing a few beers while the missus gets a hair cut. Love the absolute shit loads of keg labels hanging up around the bar. Service was very efficient considering how busy they were. Great place if you want Dark Star beers. Token Kernel beer on too which is always good. Very well priced. £3.50 for two halves is very good considering what I have experienced elsewhere throughout London. Great place

Nice, but very busy pub. Good selection of local breweries on cask and keg. Including 1 Kernel, Dark Star, etc. Some botled Kernel and others as well. Fast and efficient services even trough the pub was packed. Good prices for the area and quality of brews

A nice English pub that is tucked away a bit from the heavy traffic of the nearby Strand is worth a visit. The selection of cask ales was as good as you can expect to find outside of the cream of the crop. The prices were in line with most of London but not outrageous. With two floors you can choose to either sit at the bar or go upstairs and relax in a more lounge like room. Either way the service should be prompt. I did not have a close look at the bottle list but with about 20 casks there is little reason to have done so. If you are in the vicinity of the National Gallery be sure to stop by.
