Fantastic pub that seemed to be exactly what one should look for in a British pub; small, somewhat cramped space (but endearingly so), dark wood, beautifully conditioned ales, and old school charm. Had a few Dark Stars and a Kernel beer while I was here, sat upstairs with a school group of a professor and several students, all of whom were blasted. Awesome ambiance. Very central, and I would say a must visit for tourists considering its proximity to the city’s sights. Excellent.

2015-09-22. Nice classic English pub. Stools in front of the stained glass window facing the street. Long skinny pub with a more relaxed sitting area up the stairs of death. (Seriously, I am glad I was sober when I had to go to the bathroom! :) ) Server was friendly. Had a Kernel and a small cold pork pie that was pretty tasty. Prices seemed on the higher side, but then Kernel never seems to be cheap. Well worth a visit.

Nice traditional pub. Had to squeeze inside because place was packed with people who came for an afterwork pint. About 10 taps, some really interesting stuff like Dark Star. Well worth visiting, but be prepared for the crowd.

Brilliant place, great atmosphere. More than decent draught selection. The difference between downstairs and upstairs is striking. Visited during RBESG 2014. Thanks for showing us this place, Ruth!

A former national pub of the year when it was, in my opinion, not the best in London. This is tiny, the beer range has improved and is worth the couple of minute stroll from Charing Cross. Dark Star beer featured heavily but a few guests too. Beer I had in good nick. Worth a look as handy for The pigeons in Trafalgar Square. Gets really busy in the post work rush and you’ll likely fight your way to the bar and drink on the street

Seemingly busy at all times, slightly better chance of a seat upstairs. Good focus on the beer in terms of selection, rotation and condition. Almost guaranteed to try something new. On my first visit a couple of years ago there were mice, which sort of added to the ambiance in a way...

Great pub. Buzzing with early evening drinkers. 15 ales on hand pump none if the usual suspects service amazingly fast considering how busy it was.

Nice pub with excellent service and good selection of keg and cask ales. Pretty busy but not hectic or noisy. Wanted to return after dinner from the excellent tapas bar opposite of Harp but they had to close due to a power outage. Bad luck.
