Lovely pub no doubt about it. It does get very busy during workday lunch and happy hour. The upstairs bar makes it much easier to order a beer though. A few rocks beers on tap, as well as Newtown brewery Young Henry’s. Other taps from VIC breweries mostly. A nice place to sink a few brews.

Nice comfortable old British stylempub. Nice that they offer sampler paddles. Kitchen closed early so I missed out on the food. Beers were tasty.

Visited twice, first visit was July 12, 2013.
12 beers available, 6 of them from Rocks, 6 from various Oz craft breweries.
4 beer tasting paddle available, but they don’t do them Friday nights when it gets busy, I was there early enough this Friday to get one though.
Annoying $30 minimum to pay with card, so bring cash unless you’re getting a lot.
Nice fast service, bar staff seem rather knowledgable about the beers.
Also visited July 16, 2013.
Stopped by for two more tasting paddles.
Didn’t eat either of the times, but the $30 min on card annoyed me both times.
Second time a huge group of people in sombreros and fake moustashes walked in for a beer, then left again, weird.
A few TV sets showing footie.
Nice place, I’d go back again if in Sydney.

Lovely pub interior is one of the classiest in Sydney. Good guest taps (Nail Stout) and solid but uninspiring house brews.

Very cool and comfortable looking joint with lots of space, reminds me of an English place, but one I’d rather visit a few more times. Friendly staff, not overly knowledgeable except about their brews, Rocks brewing. 12 beers on tap, 6 Rock and 6 other Australians. The Rocks beers, the Butcher in particular were great, the others not so much. The offer 4 paddles on any beers, so you can tick 12 real fast. The bottle list was weak, mostly American crap and no internet. Those being my 2 complaints I’d come back.

Harts Pub is a place I like to visit time and time again, as I know that every time I go, even if only a week apart, there will always be at least one if not multiple new Australian beers on tap and 9 times out of 10 I have never tasted them before.
Since I started moving away from my younger days of VB and Extra Dry and started to experience what REAL beer tastes like, I have strived to find new and exciting beers. Harts Pub NEVER disappoints.
I first discovered this place during the Beer Festival at The Australian a few years ago, when a gentleman I was chatting to there was talking about opening a pub down the road. Surely enough, his dream became a reality and I made my first visit shortly after it opened. Ever since it fast became my favourite pub in Sydney.
It’s not ONLY about the beer though, although that is surely a main contributing factor. I have never had a meal there I haven’t enjoyed. It isn’t 5 star dining, nor should a pub be. The chef is American and the menu is notably inspired from his homeland. I like to eat healthy, but who can resist some taboo food from the states.
Great location too, tucked away in the back of The Rocks, every time I go it is never overcrowded but can get quite busy. Its like a little known secret that I am happy to be a part of.

Although their own beers are pretty average (still drinkable), they have a few rotating taps for other Australian breweries. So usually there are some excellent beers to down regularly. Really like the atmosphere here.

Very friendly bartender who gave us free samples. Food was good, about 8-10 Oz micros on tap, nice atmosphere. Very convenient for tourists as it is in the heart of The Rocks and near the Australian Hotel. Definitely worth stopping for a pint or two. If you have a group you can reserve one of the cool old rooms - no extra cost.

OK selection available, though we tried to stick to their own in-house brews. Liked the atmosphere; I enjoy pubs with all manner of small rooms and little snugs in which to sit and drink. Still, I wish the patio had been open when we were there...it looked nice.

Decent range of craft on tap, the staff were fabulous with the odd free taster to help make up your mind. Mainly Rocks brewing on tap but with rotating micros from around Australia available as well.
