84 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 Iphonephan (76) Virginia | October 3, 2012 Very pleasant decor and ambiance. 40 beers on tap, including 8 house brews, and 4 on cask - all interesting. Came mid afternoon and almost empty. Still not particularly attentive service. Yes the food is on the high side but far better than usual for a brew pub. | 86 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 16/20 womencantsail (382) Garbage Grove, California | September 19, 2012 Cool location right downtown in Old Town Pasadena. Sort of a darkly lit bar area with a nice horseshoe bar with taps on both sides and 3 cask set ups. Classy ambiance with hardwood bar, floors, tables, etc. Had 8 house taps (only 7 beers on, though), and about 50 on tap total (they’ll do flights of 4 for everything on the menu). Friendly staff, a little on the pricey side, but a cool place. | 70 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 14/20 beersearcher (26) Glendale, California | June 1, 2012 Nice little place off the bustle of Old Town in Pasadena. Has their own house beers too. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 4/10 OVERALL 14/20 BMan1113VR (305) Los Angeles, California | May 22, 2012 Fun little stop in old town Pasadena. Free public lot across the street. Nice and very big interior. A couple of flat screen TVs by the bar. Hard wood everywhere else. Upscale Vibe. Really a massive space. 15bbl brewing system. Some natural light brightens the place up. Massive tap system. Well over 50 beers on offer (as well as 4 empty cask beer engines). All priced at both taster flight size and full pours (decent prices at $5-7 per pint for most things). Some rarities such as Hammerhead and Abacus on tap. 4 house brews at the moment (they only started brewing a month or so ago. House beers were quite good for first attempts (the breakfast stout was particularly good, but all could use some tweaking). 6 wines on tap as well as a house mixed Manhattan Cocktail. Food menu is delicious, but prohibitively expensive ($16 burger type of prices)! Friendly service from an ex-Father’s Office vet. Worth returning for beers, but I might have to find somewhere cheaper to eat first. |
