82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 watson1977 (111) The dub c, Pennsylvania | March 3, 2013 Went for sunday brunch....45 min wait was well worth it! Fabulous chicken and waffles...cant wait to eat it again. Decent draft list and a very nice bottle selection. Little loud in there but a nice homey warm place. Service was great except for the irritable busser with the 1980s michael keaton fanclub looking baseball hat...total dick. Gave me shit twice for standing and drinking while waiting for my table when there really was very little room to stand in/around the crowded little bottle shop. Screw him...he is the only downside. Get the chicken and waffles! | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 chrispratt (14) , | March 3, 2012 Good for brunch, and grabbing a couple bottles for take out. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 jredmond (161) Manhattan, New York | January 22, 2012 a great place to stop by for a good meal or just beer to go. Nice country summer feel to the place equipped with a wall of beer refrigerators in the back corner. Great draft selection as well. Friendly staff. | 90 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 Travlr (999) Washington, Washington DC | December 6, 2011 This place has more of a deli feel to it, with very tasty and creative sandwiches, a solid tap list - including two Cigar City drafts - and a very impressive bottle selection that you can drink on site or take away - for a discount. Prices are a bit higher than elsewhere for some things, but not everything. Service is absolutely stellar, I couldn’t ask for anything more. A must-try in Philly. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 16/20 orangesol (73) Pennsylvania | December 4, 2011 I stopped in here after I went to Bella Vista. This was my first trip here.
Upon entering it appears to be a nice mix of bottle shop and small cafe. I went straight to the bottle shop area and, while it wasn’t amazing, I was pleased with what I saw. They had signs above each door of the cooler telling you where the beers inside where from. From what I could tell most of the beers were fresh. Plenty of classic staples with a few "rarities" thrown in. I noticed they had a few bottles of Marrón Acidifié and I was wondering how they had lasted that long until I saw the $30+ price tag. No chance I would pay that much for that one. Most of the other bottles seemed to be priced right around where they should be. I picked up a few bottles for the cellar and it only set me back around $20.
Service was good. I was asked if I needed help by three different people. The guy I talked to knew a good bit about most of the beers I asked about. I didn’t have time to eat but the menu looked pretty good. I will have to return in the future and try the food. | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 4/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 15/20 chronictonic (49) Oreland, Pennsylvania | September 22, 2011 A very nice cafe type restaurant in south Philly. IMHO, the only thing missing ambiance wise is a bar - it’s all table seating. From what we read prior to going, service could be hit or miss - ours was very miss. The food was good but not spectacular (which is disappointing after seeing all their pics on Facebook). The burger was overcooked, and my dessert (bread pudding) was thoroughly meh. The tap selection is small, but did have some gems I’ve never seen before. The bottle selection was very good - almost up there with Capones. Pricing on the bottles was ok - 15% off if you got 8 (or something like that). I’d probably go again for bottles and beer, but would only eat if hungry and didn’t feel like going someplace else. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 italianjohn (150) Penndel, Pennsylvania | June 15, 2011 Right across the street from Bella Vista beer and north of Devils Den ... Nice clean bright atmosphere more like a coffee shop/deli look than a bar but was a nice change of pace .... 8 taps 12 growler fills and a organized and priced cooler in the back that had lots of west coast and an awesome door of belgians that you don’t see around often .... the food was great had the short rib tacos and my pal had the french quarter .... the staff was knowledgeable and friendly ... the prices for draft were $6-$8, entrees $13-$16 and burgers for $10 good selection of pickies as well .... all in all i’d definitely come here again | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 GMCC2181 (66) Newark , Delaware | June 5, 2011| Updated June 8, 2011 Cool place: Expensive but a good selection of west coast, euro beers that arent available every where. I went to the Hillfarm stead event during Philly beer week. Even though it was busy the staff did a good job keeping up. Food looked decent but I only had a cheese plate. Growlers to go. Inside seating, with 2 or 3 outside tables available. Nice place to go and chill to get a beer. I will be back | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 jeremytoni (139) Swedesboro, New Jersey | August 21, 2010| Updated June 8, 2011 Great selection of bottles and a few taps, great food, and quick friendly service. | 74 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 Rastacouere (606) Montreal, Quebec | August 6, 2010 Nice little face, close from downtown and other good beer spots. You walk in and are attracted by the coolers at the end. Yep, pick any beer and have at it or feel free to take it out as well! Not bad for a state with archaic laws. The draught selection was not particularly exciting on the day I visited, but it’s still the only place I’ve seen Sculpin at for some reason. You can find bottles from classic great American breweries, but the prices are a match for the quality. Not a priority, but a pretty good spot, basically on the way if you visit Italian Market or Cheesesteak/hoagie quarters from downtown. |
