Visited on a Friday evening in October 2011, the place was almost full but we got a table with two seats without waiting.
The mood was high, it was loud in the Brewpub. The beers were ok, though no sensations. The pizza that I ate was very tasty.
It took about 30 minutes to walk to this place from our hotel located on South Michigan Avenue.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon, seated promptly. The service was very good and food was served promptly. Beer selection was good, I think everyone would be able to find something interesting. Ambiance - loud, lots of twenty and thirty somethings, flat screen TVs turned down. Not a place for discussion over dinner. I had the fish and chips which were just OK, tartar sauce very bland, fries were good. Other people’s food looked tastier than mine so maybe I just had bad luck. Everything was available as a 4 oz selection which I appreciate.

It’s a solid brew pud, with a good selection of in house beers and "guest" beers. The food is better than bar food. It is within walking distance of public transportation. The biggest knock is their beer (especially the stuff they brew) is over priced. I grabbed a growler of their IIPA in May with out doing a price check, I brought one of their growlers in and the cost was $25.00. That growler is now being used for show only... Way out of line with their comps in the city.

Stopped by this place on a weekday afternoon. Nice patio area and a trendy look on the inside. Ten of their beers were on tap, about half of which were variations on an IPA. Other guest taps as well. Didn’t try the food. I liked the place, but would have liked it a lot more if I were a Hophead.

Stopped in to pick up some growlers on the way home from work. Located right of expressway and Randolf in pretty cool area. Was able to find parking, but they did have valet. Nice set up inside. Had 7 of their own beers all available in sizes from tasters to growlers which is nice. Tons of guest taps and bottles. Nice big screens so it is not too beer nerdy. Didn’t get to stay long, but can’t wait to come back with wife or some buddies.

Nice place not real crowded on a Saturday afternoon, staff was very nice and friendly. Food was good a couple of nice appetizers.Sampled all haymarket brews and came away very impressed. Five of the ten were ipas several were excellent like barney’s American ipa and the rye Belgian ipa. The pilsner was good as was the dubbel. The defender double American stout was outstanding. Great job on four styles by the brewer. They also have many guest taps and a ton of bottled beer. I look forward to my next visit.

Our first stop on a recent trip to Chicago.
VIBE: dimly lit ambience, large bar greets you at the door with a couple flat screens playing the ball games, attractive open dining room with ample space between tables, casual cosmopolitan crowd that minds their own business, really nice patio.
SERVICE: Angie, our waitress on both occasions, was friendly, relaxed, and welcoming, and she answered all of our questions regarding the drinks and cuisine. When we left to flag a cab in the rain, she gave my girlfriend an umbrella and told us we could keep it. Truly exceptional service.
SELECTION: the brewpub beers cover a broad range of styles (pilsner, stout, tripel), guest taps and bottle list are particularly impressive. Over the course of two visits I had a Founders All Day Pale Ale, Haymarket Black Sox Porter, 3Floyds Arctic Panzer Wolf DIPA, Haymarket The Saison Also Rises, SKA Modus Hoperandi IPA, and Green Flash Summer Saison. While the house saison left something to be desired, their porter was fantastic and I was very satisfied with the draughts from other breweries.
FOOD: we each ordered a House Salad and split the Italian Sausage Pizza with tomato, basil, and pulled pork. Everything tasted great and paired well with our beer and wine. We also liked the fact that you can add extra pizza toppings for $0.75. Prices are quite reasonable as six drinks, two salads, and a pizza came to $55.
OVERALL: Haymarket is a benchmark brewpub with solid house beers, an insane guest draught lineup and bottle menu, appetizing food, outstanding service, and an approachable atmosphere. We came twice and will gladly revisit on future trips to Chicago.

Haymarket is a nice brew pub in Chicago. The brew area is enclosed in glass, making it very viewable. There is a great selection of house brews alongside some really nice micro bottles and taps. Our server seemed to not want to be at work, but the hostesses and others seemed very helpful. The outdoor seating is rather cramped, so we opted for inside despite the longer wait. There was a band, Environmental Encroachment, that warmed up throughout the place, by marching around (they were a marching band of sorts).
