Great beer selection and lots of rare and special release stuff. Small place and very beer focused, despite what you may think from the name. Definitely one of the top beer stores in the area, but prices and selection both fall a little bit short of City Beer, which definitely handicaps it in my mind. For this reason, I don’t really make an effort to go anymore when I’m in the city.

Popped in here one afternoon on a visit to town, and had a blast chatting with David about not just the Bay Area scene but his hometown Philly scene too. Nice little boutique feel here, not anything memorable in terms of ambience but pleasant and tucked away in a quasi-residential neighborhood. Stuffed to the gills with bottles (gotta be careful how you move around), but the selection was killer. Picked up some Midnight Sun and other goodies for the family feasts, and would recommend this place very highly.

This place wasn’t that big. The guy behind the counter was exceptionally nice and cool. Found an 08-08-08 Vertical Epic here which made me happy. Quite honestly the selection is decent, but I wouldn’t say this place is "World Class". It was small, had some great things in the cooler(s), but nothing that just made my eyes pop out of there sockets. Honestly, I would go to City Beer if I was looking for a slam dunk selection. They do well with the space they have. Some non-refrigerated gems were seen here, but again, nothing to write home or wet my pants about. Parking is a hassle here, my brother and I barely found a spot close by. Go here if visiting San Francisco, but after seeing it once, you should be good to go.

I drove past this little corner store at least 50 times, and didn’t ever see a reason to stop until I met Matt at a local beer bar. His description was very accurate - hundreds of beer choices in a small space, including lots of Belgians and high end U.S. micros, many of which are hard to find. There is also a good deli menu.

This is hands down the best beer shop I’ve ever been to. I walked in and immediately had goose bumps and was almost light headed with excitement. The tiny little shop is densely packed with an extra-ordinarily curated selection of hard to find and the best of the best classics from CA and around the world. The staff were such enthusiastic beer nerds (or bourbon nerds). I would be much lighter in my wallet but have an amazing cellar if this wasn’t on the other side of the country. Dob’t tell everyone though... :) Also, great hummus samples!

Just a quick update: I’ve now ordered from these guys several times, they seem to be my online retailer of choice these days, and I can’t understate how easy they are to deal with. I’ve also been able to buy a few things from them I didn’t think I’d get anywhere. Original rating: Based on a couple of online orders. Both experiences were very pleasant. Excellent service; Rami, Dave and Nate are super-friendly and a pleasure to deal with. Their website, or blog, gets the job done once you’ve gotten used to it. As far as online selection and quality, I’d put these guys up against anyone. A great West Coast selection with the Alesmith’s, LA, Russian River, etc, and even some breweries I don’t generally see elsewhere such as Valley, Midnight Sun, and Marin. Shipping from San Fran to FL and packaging costs will drive up the total price quite a bit but that’s to be expected. I’ll order from them again for sure.

Nice place, clean bottle shop on the corner. Lots of beer selection. Well worth visiting if you are looking to buy bottles. I think I liked City Beer slightly better, but this place is still good.

I stopped in here during San Francisco beer week to pick up a rare High Water release. I was shocked at how small the place is. It’s tucked away in a more residential area and you wouldn’t really know it’s a great beer store from the outside. Inside they have quite a bit of cold storage with minimal shelf space. The selection was very good, just not huge. The employee there seemed to know his stuff. The only problem is that it’s kind of off the beaten path away from the BART line, and I don’t know if it’s really worth going out of your way for if you live near some of the other great beer stores. They do get some rare releases that other stores won’t, especially during San Francisco beer week.
