Brewpub near the Port Authority. Small chain around NYC. Decent pub food. Beer is your standard brewpub beer. Pairs well with the meal, but nothing too crazy.

I stopped in during a recent business trip into the city. They are located immediately adjacent to the Port Authority bus terminal on 8th Avenue. Decor is warm and inviting with tin ceilings and reproductions of historical lighting. The selection of their own beers on draught was very good with six regular offerings plus five seasonals. The food was ok but not great. I had the fish and chips which had a bread crumb coating instead of batter. My friend had salmon which was a little overdone. Service was ok but again, not great. There was apparently a shift change while we there and there were long gaps between when we were visited at the table. I can see myself visiting on occasion, but with all of the great places to go in the city, there are other beer establishments I would visit far more regularly if I lived here.

This is now the fourth Heartland location including the HB Burger on 43rd. This one is right at the Port Authority bus terminal so you can stop here on your way somewhere as itís right on top of a subway stop. The front part of the restaurant is the bar and there are lots of tables in there. They had nine taps on during my visit and two of them were ones that I hadnít tried before (the imperial pils and the hoppy doppelbock (called Hoppelbock). The pils was drinkable but I was very much not a fan of the doppelbock.

The service was attentive enough for it being happy hour and on a rainy day where everyone wanted to be inside. Prices were a little high. Overall a decent bar in a good location.

Very fine place to grab a few beers. The service was exceptional when I went. Beer selection is very solid with many different styles represented. Value is decent for Manhattan, about what youíd expect. Added bonus - some guy came in and asked, "Can I get a Bud?" and the bartender flatly replied, "No" with no explanation.

Stopped in here en route to Beer Authority, which itself was en route to a two day tasting extravaganza split between Paul and Andyís places. Honestly the biggest reason I stopped in here ahead of Beer Authority was the way I walked over, this was the first place I spotted, and I desperately needed to poop. The bathroom here was clean and served my needs adequately. Thatís more than I can say for the taplist here. Not that it wasnít clean, but it certainly wasnít anything to write home about. Or to write anyone about. So you probably donít even need to read this. There were eight beers on, six of them were the same six you find at every Heartland location. Tap 7 was the summer Apricot which I had had previously, and tap eight was their new gluten free beer. When I tried to order one of those the bartender tried to talk me out of it, which was a nice thing. He poured me a small sample and I donít blame him for the discouragement. It wasnít really something Iíd want to consume an entire pint of, so I ordered an oatmeal stout, drank it quickly and then headed to my next stop. Overall the staff seemed friendly and courteous, which is what Iíve encountered in all of the Heartland location, but the beer is not really worth stopping in for if youíve already tried their main six.

I stopped in for dinner and beer sampler. Typical chain atmosphere. They had dance music blaring, which really did not make any sense. Looking at the patrons, they did not appear to be the Katy Perry type crowd. Management needs to rethink that one. I ordered a Cobb Salad, and it was not too bad. The beer sampler- letís just say 2 out of the six were ok. The rest were not very clean examples of the style. Prices were about middle of the road for NYC. Bartender did not offer me any water to go with my food or cleanse my palate on the sampler. And I had to wave him down to close out. Worth a stop if you are a ticker and or want to eat.

Nice enough place close to out hotel. Decent enough beers. The IPA was very drinkable as was the stout and old red nose. It gets makred down as the tip of 18% is included in the bill whereas most places it isnít. If you are a foreigner, you might over tip, not noticing that youíve already paid it.

clean, nice enough place with a few good beers and full bar. kitchen closes early yet the food is pretty good with daily specials. service is decent and sometimes good especially when my favorite bartender from right across the river in Weehawken is in. if you want a more local experience devoid of the Silly Philly experience of shortyís on 9th ave. come here and hang out with US New Yawkers.

Beers here are brewed at the Kelso Brewery (Greenpoint) in Brooklyn. This was better than expected. It is attached to the Penn Station. Place is nice and old NYC pub style. Service was ok for NYC. Beers were like all of the other Heartlands. Over all not bad.
