Itís a Heartland Brewery, enough said. I donít come here for awesome brews, or service. The beer selection doesnít change often enough, and they are never really that good! The food is average/ above average, price is not too overboard.

Iíve been here quite often, but not as much as the other Heartlands. The ambiance is one of the nice, an attractive establishment, with the tanks left over from the days when heartland brewed its own beer. The service is prompt, polite, and overall good. The staff is generally knowledgable about the beers they serve. I tend to like Heartlandís brews, although they are seldom among the very best, the beers they serve are eclectic, and greatly varied. Their selection is decent. While their selection could be more varied, it is better than other Heartland establishments. The food here is very good, and reasonably priced. The value is decent for this type of establishment in Manhattan. Definitely worth stopping for lunch.

I was at the Empire State Building pub, crowded, but in mid afternoon I got a seat at the bar. Speedy and friendly service, while the beers are rather run of the mill. The sampler tray is nicely priced.
Sure, there are better pubs, but itís worth a visit. With their locations, itís not a detour from where a tourist is going anyway...
Combine this with the Ginger Man a few blocks away.

Yet another NYC beer place Iíve been to a million times and not rated - this is probably my favorite Heartland location - itís roomy inside, and quite laid back compared to some of the other locations - itís location in Union Square is a plus, as the other locations are in mostly touristy parts of town - the food and beer is the same as the other locations, obviously (ie. overpriced and mostly lackluster) - if you must go to Heartland, then come here, but trust me, no one must go to heartland.

It was packed when I visited on a Friday evening and very difficult to find somewhere to sit unless youíre eating. But nevertheless I persevered and was glad I did when I eventually got a table and a seasonal taster including 7 of their beers for only $14.95! Itís a great deal if you want to get a taste of everything theyíve got to offer. Decent place and the food looked good -very varied menu including both bar food and a proper restaurant menu- although we didnít eat here.

Went to the Union Square location on a Saturday afternoon and I was very impressed. Prices were a little high, even for NYC, but a great atmosphere, especially for hanging out or watching sports. The 6 or 8 beer sampler was really a great way to get the most variety for your buck and the food was OK. Location is also a plus, right on the park. I would go again even though the beer was pretty average.

Busy, noisy place. Average food (although interesting menu, ate bison), average service and average beer. Sampler of 8 beers was a good thing.

This used to be the location I would go to more often but now I donít go to Union Square quite as much. This place also has two floors and seems a bit more hip than the others. The tanks in the back are cool to see and the staff is pretty friendly and willing to help if you have any questions. All locations are pretty similar with the beers and staff.

Friendly knowledgable staff. Young tourist/NYU crowd. Nice beer memoriabilia. It all adds up to be not bad place. Unfortunately the beer wasnít stellar, but what great locations these guys have. Right on Union Square next to thier Holiday Fair, down the the road from NYU.

This place is more of a tourist attraction than a brewpub. None of the beers are very good. The only one worth trying (out of the ones Iíve had) is the Farmer Johns Oatmeal Stout. The place has a prime location, so even during the week itís extremely crowded. Considering this the service is not that bad. The bartender was attentive and helpful in terms of letting me know what beers were available. Decent ambiance with some exposed brick and that "Pizzeria Uno" type of decor. Come here for the New York experience, not for beer seeking...
