48 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD 5/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 9/20 Martinus (116) Nijmegen, Netherlands | April 21, 2011 Good atmosphere, nice place. Don’t expect too much of the draughts though, bottles are better and at good value. First pub of Estonia back in the days (or so they claim) | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 Tim Webb (173) Cambridge, England | April 10, 2011 What is it about bars where the seating does not match that gives them such a head start? Armchairs too. Good place, fine range of beers, a bit yooffull but controlledly so, a few ageist undertones but nice design, increasing beer range and a must-visit in Tallinn. | 68 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 13/20 Marko (188) Split, Croatia | April 24, 2010 Good location in the old Tallinn, ok atmosphere (love the menus and the fact that they’re sponsoring a footie team called "FC Hell Hunt" :D). Good selection of bottled beer, their own beers (and cider) are made by Viru now and are unfortunately crap. The bottles list looked a slightly more appealing but we didn’t have much time for that. All in all, wish I had more time to spend here, seemed like a nice place. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 drpimento (131) La Crosse, Wisconsin | July 12, 2009 In a word: Cool. In other words: this was a fun spot. Had a great time. Met some other folks from Scandinavia and Australia. Had kind of a crazy sign outside with a nude woman riding a wolf. Not sure how they get "Hell Hunt’ out of that, but whatever; it works! Inside was a bunch of tables and an odd bar that had bartenders behind part and then end looped around so that customers sat on both sides of the bar and faced one another. Great for conversation starters. They had a decent selection of local, regional, and macros; plus ciders, wine, and liquours. Didn’t have food myself but a lady I met there had veggie spaghetti and horked it down. Decent sized platefull. Prices were in line with the area and quality. Funky interior with some dark wood and humor. Chandelier shades of barbed wire. Art. Prompt helpful bartenders knew their products. Would definitely go again. | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 14/20 gnoff (256) Mölndal, Sweden | April 13, 2009 Visited twice on April 10 and once on April 12, 2009. Had some different beers from tap and bottles, but didn’t eat. Service was rather good, as were the beer selection. Both domestic and imported. Gets a bit noisy with the big crowds, but not too bad. | 58 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 4/10 OVERALL 12/20 TimE (216) Tokyo, Japan | September 25, 2008 Popped in to try their two draft beers. Packed on a Wed night. Sat at bar and staff were attentive. Prices were a bit high. Stylish place, but not my type of establishment to drink beer. Did not have anything exceptional for Estonian beers, but draft will give you a couple ticks.
| 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20 Nekronos (111) Xalapa, Mexico | August 20, 2008 NIc eplace, not so expensive not so crowded. Close to the yout hostel so I gues it gets worse but it has a great selection of beers. | 66 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 14/20 FatPhil (251) Tallinn, Estonia | November 13, 2007| Updated December 20, 2011 Good vibe, though a bit too noisy on sports nights. Good selection of good beers. Good staff. Good snacks - including pork scratchings for chaps like me - and OK real pub grub too. Nothing exceptional, but good marks across the board. Update - this is now my equal "local". If I don’t want to walk any distance at all, but I want wi-fi or food I come here, if I want anything else, I probably go to Kodu. Note - the house beers are not unique, they are rebadged macros. Sillamae munchen’s always nice to see, thought, and I never say "no" to an Orval. | 52 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 11/20 SaintMatty (147) Uppsala, Sweden | October 12, 2007| Updated August 3, 2009 A friendly and welcoming place which has a good selection of beers but it can get rather noisy and boisterous when there are a lot of drunk people in there at night! The house beers are Puls Extra Lager and Puls Tume Lager. They are no longer brewed by Saaremaa Brewery as they have supposedly suspended brewing. The prices are fairly good value (especially for the food) and the service is mostly friendly and efficient, although it can also be rather slow. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 strings (3) Sydney, Australia | October 8, 2006| Updated August 3, 2009 Fantastic selection of great and rare beers at even more fantastic prices. A bit like Cafe Delerium in Copenhagen though, in that the crap beers cost about the same as the good ones (I seem to recall Duvel costing about the same as Stella). So as long as you know what you want, you’ll do good. Also had the best waitress I’ve ever encountered anywhere. Room was absolutely packed, yet she appeared without fail at exactly the right moment every time to take our glasses and a new order. |
