Interesting liquor store. They are clearly new and making the best out of what they have to work with, which from the outside is a worn out building. Inside is clean and well organized, if small. More interesting is the basement where tastings for beer, wine, and liquor are held, and this area is more like a lounge than a liquor store. Service was excellent. Anyone who shops in the Twin Cities knows Joe, but Ed, the owner, was very friendly and helpful, and clearly values your business. The selection is not quite as big as Cellars Roseville 1 or Blue Max, but this is not a problem because what isn’t there is mostly stuff you wouldn’t want anyway. I saw quite a few beers I have seen no where else in the Twin Cities, so where they might not match Cellars for quantity, they are more like Blue Max in that you are likely to find something you have never seen before. I will admit I’m not crazy about the location, but that won’t keep me from coming back.

I’ve been to this store a few times now over the past month, and every time I come back there’s always something new to be found on the shelf that is not at any other store within the metro area. This selection is going to only increase, and will definitely surpass all of the top stores shortly. The service is excellent, Joe knows all of the beers, and he’s one of the main reasons that this store will eventually accrue an awesome selection of rare limited release beers. The other employees are very knowledgeable as well. There is a very good selection of Belgians and a very good selection of domestic beers as well. They also offer a make your own six pack deal, which is a nice touch, along with a large selection of singles. If you ever get a chance to sign up for a tasting here, I highly recommend it,, as the room is perfect for such an event, and many great beers are sampled. I can only see this store improving, and if you’re ever in the Twin Cities, this place should be the one stop you make for beer.

This place is outstanding, if you are in the Twin Cities and have a car then you have to go to it. Ambiance gets a 4, since the store isn’t much to look at initially, but the sofa-filled tasting room gets a 5. Joe and Ed really know their stuff, are very friendly, and host out of this world store tastings (they gave away awesome glassware and beers such as Stone RIS, Mikkeller Black, Ten Fidy, La Folie, retired NG Unpluggeds, etc.) can I go above a 10 for service? I would say that selection of both domestic and foreign beers is now the best in the cities, with the exception of vintage beers, which Blue Max gets the edge on for now. Heritage will probably also be best at this within a couple of years though, as their cellar is already building. To give you an idea of what they had on their shelves: there was Cantillon 50ºN-4ºE, Peche Mortel, Montegioco Bran Reserva, and a number of other rarities that are available only at their store. With a committment to getting even better and creative ideas for t
This store is going to pack a lot of quality into a very small area. Everyone who has been or is a shopper at Cellars Lex-Larp knows Joe and knows that this store is only going to become more of a destination as he continues to get it set up.
Selection is already very good with lots of the unique Belgian and Italian offerings for sale and the domestic singles shelves completely set up about 2/3 to 3/4 of the imports shelves are full right now. Basically, they’re going to get in on everything that comes to MN, although they might not be quite there yet. Currently still a good place to find the new beer that the other guys have run out of, but that probably won’t last too long.
Joe’s service is always top notch and I have had nothing but great service from the few other people that have been around when he’s not there. He did a lot of legwork to get me a special case of Danish beer and has saved things for me a few times too.
The tasting room is gonna be awesome! I look forward to seeing this store become as cool as it’s going to be.
