Sure, it’s a bit touristy. it’s been featured in Lonely Planet and the like. Nevertheless, this is a great place to go. The atmosphere is so Bavarian that it’s almost over the top. The beer is fantastic. The pretzels are the size of your head. My wife and a friend both ate lunch, and said it was great... it looked great. i was satisfied with the pretzels and beer... so much so that i was content to spend the whole afternoon there. I hope to get back there again someday.

Had a good time here. The beer hall was all reserved so ate in the more resturant part. Had the three beers the dunkel was just outstanding and the wheat very good. Fun time at one of the real cornerstones of great beer in the world.

Visited the Hofbraehaus on October 1st 2014. I am not a big fan of the beer, however this is such a traditional historic beer place. Is the only brew restaurant where they still have live music, dancing, etc. Food and service is typical for Munich. Good but not outstanding.

A must go place. Just haad to the last floor and hope they have places available there since it is there that you’ll have the best ambiance. Beer choice is quite limited. (only 3 I think) As for the food they had an OK menu. Lots of tourists. The show presented is a bit repetitive but it’s still the best beer hall in munchen. I suggest heading to ayinger next to it after a while.

How can you beat the atmosphere at this place? Both inside and out was pure Biergarten ambiance. We only had pretzels to eat but the beer was perfect. I tasted the Weisse but had a mass of Original...it seemed fitting.

As so many others have said...a must stop while in Munich for any lover of beer, beer culture, & beer history. The building is on a nice square and very attractive from the outside. The interior though is classic...and big. I loved the murals...especially on the ceiling. We sat outside on a beautiful May evening eating and drinking and taking in the scene. The beer is good...and cheap...if not of great variety. The food was also very good...but more as a compliment to the beer and the experience than anything I’d recommend as a top food stop in Munich. I can’t imagine how crazy this place must get around Oktoberfest. All I can say was it was entertaining enough on a Sunday evening watching the liter mugs get poured at several stations...and the women in classic outfits carrying more of them than I could (without spilling them that is...lol!).
