How can you beat the atmosphere at this place? Both inside and out was pure Biergarten ambiance. We only had pretzels to eat but the beer was perfect. I tasted the Weisse but had a mass of Original...it seemed fitting.

As so many others have said...a must stop while in Munich for any lover of beer, beer culture, & beer history. The building is on a nice square and very attractive from the outside. The interior though is classic...and big. I loved the murals...especially on the ceiling. We sat outside on a beautiful May evening eating and drinking and taking in the scene. The beer is good...and cheap...if not of great variety. The food was also very good...but more as a compliment to the beer and the experience than anything I’d recommend as a top food stop in Munich. I can’t imagine how crazy this place must get around Oktoberfest. All I can say was it was entertaining enough on a Sunday evening watching the liter mugs get poured at several stations...and the women in classic outfits carrying more of them than I could (without spilling them that is...lol!).

Stopped in today with some co-workers and was very excited, another item to cross off the bucket list. Great ambiance as expected and packed on a Sunday night. Service was slow and the waiter mocked two ladies that were waving to get service. When the waiter did stop by our table, he was friendly and helpful though. Not a wide selection, but getting a liter of good beer for $8 works for me.

A great place to visit while in Munich. It has that real Bavarian feel. The place is packed full of people, especially during the football game night. It’s a must do in Munich to treat yourself to a 1l glass of beer together with some typcial Bavarian cuisine. Awesome.

A very nice bierhall that really knows how to lure in the tourists. The place is massive and is dripping with ’German drinking culture’. The range of beers is somewhat small but that’s to be expected. In the evenings this place only serves their beers (well, MOST of their beers, save the weisse) in one-liter glasses, which is a bit of a ball-ache if you’re doing a crawl around Munich. (I gather they do smaller pours during the day.) It’s worth visiting this place just to take in the surroundings but I wouldn’t spend much time here.

Been here a couple of times. You can’t beat it for the atmosphere. No better place in Munich to enjoy a stein of beer. Well, apart from the Englischer garten on a hot summers day! The staff all wear standard Bavarian dress and there’s an ooompah band. Food is excellent too.
