The reason I added this place is the availability of 4 De Molen beers, 3 of them brewed for Hofje van Wijs exclusively with their tea. This shop/lunchroom/small restaurant is actually a coffee and tea shop, with all kinds of high end stuff. De Molen uses their Kopi Loewak for example. Looks like a really old grocery store where they have all the tea, next to it is the lunchroom/restaurant, with next to that the shop. When I was there they had 2 beers made with tea, the Kopi Loewak stout and Heineken. The third tea-beer was out, donít know if theyíll get it back again. I hope so, because it was with Lapsang Souchong tea, and I love that. Even if they didnít have the beers, this would still be a really nice place to go for some lunch in their enclosed patio, and head for De Prael afterwards, which is just around the corner.

Still kind of a "hidden gem" in Amsterdam, although it is situated in a street full of nice bars and tourist traps (both). Hofje van Wijs is a decent coffee and tea bar, but is is much more than that. They offer great food and, last but not least, they tap unique beers with tea and coffee in it. The recipes are their own, but the beers are brewed at De Molen. They have some other beers occaisionally, from De Prael for example, and they have a nice selection of jenever. Service is friendly, but not always efficient.

Basicly a coffee and tea bar and shop in the touristy part of Amsterdam, but as mentioned they serve a couple of nice tea and coffee-infused beers. The smell of fresh coffee and tea is all around the shop/restaurant and is easily one of the best aromaís you can have in a bar if you ask me. Good atmosphere, had a nice chat with one of the owners. Didnít try any of the food. A definite recommendation for a quick early afternoon stop.

Walked into this place by coincidence.
Only had Smokin Gun and Vuur en Vlam from tap. Ok interior, good service, fine food, just a few beers... But itís easy findable, located close to the station and accesable from the backdoor.
Definitely try again when in Amsterdam again.

Brought my wife to have lunch, and got the chance to try the three de Molen brews that can only be found here. Friendly staff, good atmosphere, big portions of good food and also good beers. Although the selection is small, itís worth a detour.

Close to the railway station. As Borresteijn points out: the place to taste the tea beers from De Molen. Didnít eat there, but it is a great quiet place to enjoy your lunch with a world class cup of coffee or tea. Service by giggling and chaotic but friendly student girls. Cheaper as you might expect.
