I hadnít been here in years - just forgot about it really. Went there today and - WOW - was I impressed. Enormous selection of beer and booze attractively and intelligently and dare I say - lovingly displayed. I was on my lunch hour from the office and though hungry - and with no shortage of really tasty looking food everywhere - I spent the hour looking at the beer.

I canít believe I never reviewed Holiday before as I have been going here for quite some years. Iíll start with the beer/wine section. There is quite a large wine selection with a great layout to find what you need. The two wine guys (Brian and another guy I forgot) are always helpful if not slightly pompous. However, the beer section is where it is at. Ashley runs the beer section and is always there to help and a good conversation about beer. Ionly rated service a little lower because the guys other than Ashley can be a little snobby sometimes. Quality is top notch and product is constantly coming in and fresh. Price is always a little higher than Iíd like, but it is Royal Oak and expected. Definitely the best beer store in the area.
Now for the food sections as they are the best in the area, bar none. Amazing cheese, meat, bread, bakery and pretty much anything else you can think of. When they devote an entire huge cooler section as well as people for a wide variety of cheese form around the globe, you are in for a treat. For all meat, I head here as well for the best choices in the area.

After getting this as a suggestion from some Michigan BAís, I stopped in while I was in town last week. It turned out to be an incredible recommendation.
This is set up as a specialty grocery store, with a vast selection of wine and beer as well. Coming from Chicago, I was looking to try out the selections from Shortís and other locals, but their overall selection is just incredible. They have a good selection of nationally distributed craft beers, but I was most impressed by the selection of singles. There not many places that really break up six packs into singles around where I live, so I was able to grab a huge selection of beer without committing to a whole pack.
Having a singles selection like this absolutely made the trip worth it for me, but the positives donít stop there. I noticed the prices on some bombers and six packs were cheaper than they would cost at home. The beer is stored far away from light, so I never have to worry about it being lightstruck. Also, they get enough traffic and do enough volume that everything they have in stock seems fresh.
Ashley, their resident beer expert, is just a great guy. He had responded to my thread about places to go with very detailed information, and it was a pleasure to talk beer with him in person at the store. He is very knowledgeable, friendly, and has great recommendations.
Holiday just became my regular bottle shop whenever I am in town seeing my cousin, and I would recommend it to anyone.
Overall, just a great experience. Good prices, great beer, great service. I guess you could call me a fan.

I love this place. They have a great selection and constantly roll their product. Staff members are knowledgeable and friendly. The only complaint I have is there is no really consistency on rare beer releases from what Iíve seen. Some are first come first serve, others like the one happening now, are a lotto system. This wouldnít be bad, except they started accepting lotto entries via facebook, which I think is extremely unfair. Overall, this is a great store with very knowledgeable staff and friendly service. Oh ya, and great beer!

Maybe not the best selection in the Detroit area, but itís up there! Selection includes all the regular macrobrews, a great selection from Michigan and other breweries in the midwest, lots of belgians, and lots of british. Lots of other variety from the US and the world also. RJ is the man here, very knowledgable and friendly! Also a pretty decent market with friendly service and great selection in meat, baked goods, cheeses, etc... Iím lucky to live very close to it!

I live in HW and shop here at least once a week. I am not aware of a store in the area with bigger selection of Belgians save for Embassy, and Sicillianoís in Grand Rapids with reasonable prices.I donít understand people bickering about prices, the bottle of good craft beer costs 10-15 $, there is no sense in squabling about few cents here and there even if you buy 5 or more bottles. One stop shop for me.

A great selection with fair prices. Another store that sells the quantity to demand the hard to find, limited release, items. Service is very competent, if a little stuffy.

Holiday Market is located on the south end of Royal Oak on South Main. There is a large parking lot for customers.
The beer section is located in the rear of the store and is cleanly displayed in a couple aisles. The beer is segmented geographically, including by "East Coast", "West Coast" and imports.
As for the beer selection, it numbers in the hundreds with lots of domestic craft breweries like Great Lakes, Keweenaw, Shorts, Dark Horse, New Holland and Saugatuck. Many bombers too from Avery, Goose Island, and Bear Republic too. Many imports to choose from Belgium, the UK, Germany and Canada too. Mixed singles are available as well.
Service is above what you expect from a grocery store. The people working in the beer area were very friendly and courteous and clearly take pride in the display and care of the stock.
Overall this place is my kind of store, reminiscent of favorites like West Point Market in Akron or Hills Market in Columbus. Definitely worth a stop for any beer fan or someone who likes a quality grocer.
