Has a large selection of bottled beer and wine as well as nearly 50 beers on tap. Has a bar in back to sample, have a pint, or get a growler to go. They also now have a small homebrew section but the staff is not very knowledgeable about it. My biggest complaint would be the checkout process, they manually look up products so check out can be a pain.

I have been going to Hop City to increase my knowledge and understanding of the finer nuances of beer. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. They can get overwhelmed at times even when the "Growlertown" seems slow, but they are thorough and get the job done. Love this place!!

This is a gem, particularly impressive in my home state. The tap selection is fresh and ever-changing, and the bottle aisles are well-stocked. There is quite the diverse selection. The service could be better.

Iím always impressed with the selection and quality of Hop City Birmingham. A beer snob could spend hours in here trying to decide what to buy.
The tap area also has a nice selection of local beers, which I appreciate.
The staff is friendly and helpful as well. I came on a busy Saturday and they were willing to serve me.

Great location and well laid out building. Helpful staff and excellent pricing. All of the seats were taken at the tap line on a Saturday afternoon. No problems checking out, it was accurate and quick.

I was finally able to visit this place on a trip to Birmingham this week, and it did not disappoint. They have so much beer. Great Belgium section, and good sections for all categories of beer. Also have some really good stuff in their coolers. Also, the Alabama craft scene is exploding, and they carry or have on tap so many Alabama beers. They also carry craft beers from around the south. The staff was very knowledgable and friendly. I also loved their large tap section, with lots of local stuff you canít get outside of Birmingham.

This place is highly amazing. I stopped in frankly not expecting much, but the store is huge, there is tons of beer, including a whole row of coolers and shelf after shelf unrefrigerated. They have a ton of Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Mississippi beers for local hunting, and their selection of American craft, German, and Belgian is pretty impressive as well. No huge whales on the shelves, but they had some Belgian stuff I have never seen in California. I picked up as many bottles as my suitcase will hold, headed for the register, and then - holy shit! - there is this tasting bar with 62 taps running everything from 2oz tasters to growler fills. I sat and tried a few beers. The staff was extremely friendly, knew their beer and were great to chat with. I wish I had a place like this closer to home. A+
