This place used to actually have interesting beer for a good price. Now they sell mostly macro crap. There is a college night on Thursdays. They had maybe 8 open taps the last time I stumbled in. This place should just be avoided now.

This place used to be a "real" beer bar, but the stress is no longer on beer. Only 12 taps and none of them very interesting. Hop Devil Grill is not a beer bar any more, just a bar.

Visited here after a Knicks game around 11pm on a Friday night in March ’11. Not too busy to be honest we bagged a table no problems - if anything it was a little dead for the time and place and the atmosphere was a tad flat. Selection was OK - 20+ on tap but nothing partucularly rare/exciting however it did us fine. Service was adequate also. Wouldn’t head out here especially but if you’re in the area worth popping in.

This seems a bit out of place as in the LES as what I would describe as a suburban beer sports bar with an attached Belgian beer cafe. The prices are pretty high in there. The list is at this point pretty conventional like it was picked years ago and not updated.

Popped in here on a Sunday afternoon for 1 beer. Ok selection but I was surprised to see Goose Island BCS on tap. We sat at the bar with what appeared to be a few other locals. Ok selection, but I wasn’t blown away. Inside is a bit worn and old.

good place, but not so good selection, almost only year-rouns on tap.. service is medium.

Great Place... If your hanging in the city, it’s worth a couple of hours!

Great vibe as you walk in during a summers night as the front is complety open and the dimly lit interior sets a nice mood. Bartender knew his shit and the selection was immense. Even have a nice little beer and liquor menu to help you with your choices. Crowd is young and artsy. Coolest thing about the bar is a chalkboard in which anyone can change the saying for $2. Didn’t have the food but from the looks of other tables it seemed like standard pub fare.

This place is out of the way, 4 long blocks from the nearest subway. The ambiance is nice, clean, well lit, attractive. The service is slow, even with a handful of people in the bar. The bar staff did not seem to have a solid knowledge of beer in general, or even the beers they were serving. The selection is usually good, but of course not the equal of Blind Tiger or Rattle n Hum. The food appeared to be decent, although I actually didn’t have any. The value for happy hour is usually decent, with $4 pints (a steal for manhattan). The event beer are outrageously overpriced. Not a bad place. I’ll probably give it another shot to see if my impression of the place improves.

Went (finally) for the Kuhnhenn event. Good selection, but nothing like Blind Tiger or Rattle. I thought everything was overpriced except maybe the Kuhnhenn stuff was ok. Service was painfully slow. We had table service and it 20 minutes for them to serve us one beer. Ludicrous. It was nice to actually get a table on an event night at a New York city bar, so props for that, I guess. Probably won’t go back unless they have another event.
