Nice slightly ramshackle pub set in an old house with lots of separate rooms. Good beer selection with about ten on tap. Friendly relaxed atmosphere and service, a good place to drink beer.

Good unpretentious old house bar, a big contrast to the likes of the newer flash trendy pickup beer joints in town. You are shit out of luck if you want to drink any commercial swill. About 12 taps of mainly Canadian and a few US craft brews. Nice relax joint with no suities.

This takes me back to my university days and I used to love it. I have never had the food so cant comment, but the environment is a love or hate relationship. The service is non existent and you just order from the bar. Selection used to be pretty good, but last time I was there I was hard pressed to find anything I wanted let alone anything interesting. If they can bring up their game with a good selection of beer, I will happily change my rating. Update- Beer seleCtion has improved.

Converted old wooden house, located on 12th Avenue. Ambience/atmosphere is pretty cool and laid back. Beer selection is ok... about 10 taps of mostly Canadian craft beers – Alley Kat, Yukon and such like. Service was friendly and quick. A good evening venue for sure, but a bit slow during the day. A decent beer stop when in Calgary.

A great place to go for good pub style food and a unique selection of beer, some seasonals and there is always something interesting on tap, located in an old house, the service is great & the atmosphere is very welcoming, I stop by when ever I get a chance.

Easily the best place in Calgary, I go here whenever I get the chance. Converted old house, lots of beer bottles on display, pool table upstairs, music either absent or unobtrusive, laid back, slightly hipster ambience (but I’m pushing 40 and I’ve always felt comfortable). Friendly staff. 15 taps total, excellent selection of local microbrews including some hard to find ones, rotating selection of British and Belgian imports, and the terrific Goldspur (Belgian-style golden ale, the owner’s recipe, brewed for them by Alley Kat). Food is limited to pizzas, nachos, and quesadillas, but it’s good stuff, fairly priced. Not a place for a quick bite; the oven is the house’s domestic oven, not a commercial oven, so they can only cook 3 pizzas at once. When it’s busy, count on waiting 45 min. for your food.

Great selection of beers, low key room. A bit granola/student-y (as a nearly 40-year old, I felt a bit out of place). But certainly worth the visit. Just a note of caution: they have an in-house triple, which is served in a pint glass (!) and is perhaps the sweetest beer I’ve ever tasted. I ordered one by accident once, and didn’t finish. My mates ordered one for me as a joke another time, and again I couldn’t finish it.

Amazing place. An old detached house in the middle of the city. Cozy place with some history on the walls. Thursday afternoon 5 pm, we were the first customers. Some tastings. Great place. Best I found in Calgary.

A wonderful little gem hidden away in the chaos of downtown Calgary... 15 beautiful beers on tap... a simple yet delicious menu (I had the nachos and they were done right, like you would do them at home!)... excellent atmosphere... a very very nice place to be! And, probably the best place to go for a good beer in Alberta!

This is my favourite place to be. It has a great selection on tap, including a certain Big Rock that I’ve yet to find anywhere else and that I really enjoy, along with Affligem Blonde, Brew Brothers Black Pilsner, and other greats. Excellent atmosphere, service is all you can ask for in a place that has a lot of customers and only one small bar, food is tremendous(as said before, possibly the best pizza in town) and the guy who runs it seems to be really on the ball. A lot of great regulars, friendly employees and very fair pricing. All the bottles on the wall are interesting, with a Unibroue collection I am totally envious of. Finally, they play good music and even though the house is a bit run-down by now, the place still seems to be really clean. If I could live there, I would.
