70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 emacgee (60) Chapel Hill, North Carolina | June 11, 2012 Stopped in here on a trip to Wadesboro. Set my expectations pretty low for a couple of reasons that need not be expounded upon. Was surprised to see Crisp Maris Otter in the brewing area. Ambiance was definitely that of a chain, but not necessarily in a bad way. I did get a 7 beer sampler for like $4 which was pretty sweet. The beers were not so sweet. Food came out pretty quick and was much better than I expected. Nothing to blow your mind but still tasty. I got salmon and it was cooked perfectly so there’s that. Our waiter was very attentive and gave us great service. | 26 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 4/10 SELECTION 4/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 3/20 Ernesto987 (54) Connecticut | November 14, 2011 meh, was walking distance from my hotel. No guest taps and their standard line was ranging from terrible to subpar. Not even decent for BMC drinkers. Fail. | 64 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 13/20 hectorG (9) North Carolina | July 19, 2011 good food, good local beer | 60 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 12/20 BeerBelcher (134) Columbus, Ohio | April 26, 2009| Updated May 5, 2009 I had a few hours to kill in Charlotte, and found this place; a Gordon Biersch-type environment. It fit my needs - decent enough craft beer and appetizers at quite reasonable happy hour prices.
I sat at the bar, chatted with an amiable older gentleman who was a regular, and had some beers and appetizers. Draft beers were a buck, and appetizers were half price. The year-round beers were a snooze-fest, but they had an oatmeal stout and IPA as seasonals, and both were decent (and a buck!). I also had some nachos and pot-stickers, which were OK. The cheap-ness of these beers and food really elevated them in my mind; had I visited 2 hours later and paid full price, my impressions may have been different.
Service at the bar was OK...the bartender seemed to get that I knew something about beer and didn’t try to over-explain things, which I appreciated.
Not bad, but far from exceptional. Still, choices are limited in this town, and I wouldn’t not recommend it. | 62 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 13/20 changeup45 (100) Mount Dora, Florida | April 16, 2008| Updated May 5, 2009 Spent part of 7 years in the area and worked in Charlotte for a year. The beers are all decent but don’t expect anything too outstanding. Selection is somewhat small too. Food is pretty good however, I always had good service and the atmosphere is nice. A good place to go for dinner or lunch or just chill out at the bar. | 60 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 13/20 gsmitty80 (163) Washington DC | October 27, 2007 Stopped here on my way to pick up a friend. Waitresses were nice and attentive the beer selection was minimal as they had only house beers, but the beers were good. I had the brewmaster steak, which was also good. TVs were not properly positioned to see them from all angles. Nice place. |
