I LOVE the Horsebrass. This is my favorite pub in Portland. Real &quo;English Pub&quo; environment. Dark and smokey. A ton of taps, mostly a mix of imports and NW favorites. 5 constantly rotating taps (never know what you might get there!!)Several casks also. Service is always the best, but beware the place can draw a crowd at night.

Horse Brass is one of the leading reasons why Portland is the beer mecca of the USA. Steeped in history and tradition and soaked with beer culture. Long Live HBP

Still one of the best beer bars/pubs I have been to. Rivals Toronado in itís old-school west coast feel, but in a more English way and with maybe an even better beer selection. I was treated like family and just canít say enough about this place. Itís sad that Don Younger has left us, but hopefully Horse Brass continues to be a fitting memorial for years to come.

By far the best beer bar i have ever had the chance to drink in. Very well decorated with that "Harry Potter" look to it. Very English, well at least what i beleive to be English. Extremely friendly and knowledgable staff. Huge selection of beers and would you know the Belmont Station is right next door??? WOW, you can taste a great beer and literally buy the bottle next door. They have games and i imagine food, but i didnt order any.

Always an excellent beer selection. Rapidly rotating taps and lots of rare finds. No more smoking is a bit of a downer but makes it nicer to hang out and more accurate for tasting/rating beers. Very knowledgeable staff that cares about what theyíre serving. Proper serving temperatures!

Iím from ATL. This place alone wants me to claim PDX!!!!!!!!!
Itís hard to find, passed it a few times before finally stopping. The interior is dark and the menu is very British. I love the HorseBrass food. Sunday English breakfast is the best in the world! First time there I ordered Steak and Kidney pie. Goes great with a YSB on cask! Dennis is the most welcoming and helpful person working in the house. Sent us to all the right places to meet all the right people in town. I just have too much to say about the Horsebrass Pub! Thanks Don. It is a must visit when in the city of roses.

Don Younger the owner sat down with us and what we thought would be a quick lunch ended up being a whole afternoon, an education on the Pacific Northwest brewing scene and a endless stream of samples.
Thanks Don for the memories.

Went here for the first time tonight.
Eventually made my way to the pub, parked round the back and entered this legendary establishment. I was here to meet fellow BAs Blitheringidiot, Freed and Red Diamond. Wlked inthrough the back entrance past the kitchens and really it could have been a small traditional style pub in England. Some folk dont like the grungy smoky interior, but to me it just added to the atmosphere. Mossied on up to the bar (again a very trad bar arrangement) and was astounded by the vast array of taps , so much it was difficult to choose what to drink first..I chose the Hogsback Oatmeal Stout on cask..very nice and the bar people were very efficient fast, courteous and knoledgable.
Man I wish I lived in this neighbourhood..this a fantastic example of a beer bar.
