Old school British style pub - dimly lit - a little dingy - atmosphere reminds me very much of Bull and Bush in Denver - decent draft list, although skewed quite heavily towards ipas, pales, porters and the like - beers served by the full pint or half pint - servers were okay - they seemed a bit understaffed, but thankfully it was not busy when I was there - all the beers I had were under-carbonated and one seemed so stale that I decided not to rate it because I was sure the condition of the beer was far from prime - for any bar, but especially a bar with a world class reputation, this is inexusable - I will not return here if I make it back to Portland.

Old English style pub. The guy who served us was amazingly helpful. Setting not to my taste, but that’s not a big deal. Nice selection of beer...despite all the Guinness neon lights.

this joint was my first beer stop on my PDX trip. i have mixed feelings about this place. old school western/british style pub. i sat down right next to a plate of half eaten food that never got taken away, but our bartender, hugh was was awesome, had plently of recommendations both travel and beer wise. very helpful cool dude. despite others comments, the beer (draught) selection was very wide, with alot of obscurities from smaller local breweries, pretty heavy on IPA’s and stouts though. the food looked like garbage and it looked like locals knew that for service they would have to initiate things themselves. all good, nice place. definitely a must stop.

A nice English pub with a good selection of guest beers, alongside the usual bunch. Lots of rare locals and seasonals that make this place worth a stop. Prices are very reasonable.

Horse Brass has a wonderful atmosphere, amazing fish & chips, and the best tap selection I have seen yet. However, their service is terrible. It seems not to be anyone’s fault, just seems they’re constantly understaffed.

This place was OK but a disappointment after all the hype. Got some stale Trumer Pils and the server said they just tapped the keg. The fish and chips were good but obviously overcooked. A friend got another pils and it was quite sweet. Maybe if it wasn’t beer week the selection would have been better. I’d go here again, but only after my Portland favs got hit first.

Interesting place. Comfortable, but not terribly organized; although the people tending the bar are very knowledgeable. Really large space for Fri/Sat night and large gatherings. Parking is a bear, but it’s worth it.

English style pub that has great character although a bit dirty and dingy. Excellent service, fast and friendly. Very nice selection of beers, lots of local Oregon breweries with a great mix of US and Imports as well. Food was good for what it is, English style pub fare, lots of cheese, sausage and deep fried items. Value seemed really good for all the beers and food we had. Overall a great place to get some beer, the food was good but after walking by the kitchen on the way to the bathroom I’m not sure I’d eat there again.

2010-06. Visited early on a Sunday afternoon last June, this quaint English-infused pub had patrons sipping delicious brews and watching the World Cup game on the telly. We ate a wonderful English plowman’s lunch and tasted four great beers on tap, lusting after many more on the list. Service was excellent and very friendly and quick. When I remember the feeling of being there, there are stained glass signs in the window filtering dark orange light into the pub over the wooden tables and chairs and big, well-worn bar in the centre of the room. Would love to return one day to try more!
