Visited December 10 2013. Bloomy place pretty far away from downtown. Unfortunately too fast visit but Youngers Special Bitter was worth of it.

This place was great. It’s been on the list for years, and I am pleased I was finally able to cross it off. It was a nice mix of classic old world pub and dive bar. A historic establishment in the craft beer movement.

No way I was gonna go all the way to Portland and miss this place. Very traditional, and seemed, I don’t know, happily run down? Fun stop!

Well worn in pub that’s a little rough around the edges by way of the interior. Great beer selection of many taps. Pub grub available with many of the after work crowd getting their fix. Good atmosphere and well worth stopping for a couple of pints.

An insanely traditional english pub in the middle of Portland. All that’s missing was some foosball. Prices were great and the staff seemed happy to be there.

Pretty decent spot. Often go something interesting on tap and I fully appreciate them having cask ales. They get the English pub thing about 75% right I’d say and that is fine. Not my first choice in the neighbourhood but worth a visit.

An old standby that you absolutely should visit if you’re in portland. There’s a beautiful old wooden bar, an awesome beer selection, and a great respect for beer here. It feels a bit less hipstery than some of the other places.

It may be an English theme pub but it’s also a great bar, this would be my local if I lived in Portland, great selection of beers. Strangely the choice of Englidh beers is s**t - Newcastle Brown? Nobody in England drinks that nowadays!

I frequent the HBP quite often, because it’s honestly one of the best brewpubs in Portland if not THE best. The atmosphere alone is worth the trip: you walk in and feel like you’ve stepped into a real English pub, with tin beer signs all over the walls and people playing darts over in the corner. The service is great (although it’d be better if they had British accents!) and the food is incredible... especially the authentic fish and chips! But what really makes this a must-hit beer stop is the 50+ beers they have on tap! And with Belmont Station just a few blocks away, there’s absolutely no reason why anyone who loves beer shouldn’t stop here. It really is one of the reasons Portland is so synonymous with craft beer.
